1. When babies are born it is almost commentary to get the boys blue and the girls pink. It symbolized that boys are blue because it's more of a manly color and the pink for girls because it's supposed to represent happiness and the boys are more about destruction.
2. With boys, they are expected to like actions figures and trucks. While girls are supposed to like barbies and dress up. The boys are supposed to be interested in the more manly toys, nothing to "girly" because in their eyes they have to like what they are told. They put into the kids heads how what they are supposed to like and dislike.
3. Guys are shown to be able to do more than girls. Those girls aren't strong enough to do it on their own. That they are weak or would be too frightening to do anything dangerous, but that's not always true.
4. Girls are shown to be more elegant and posed. Then the boys are expected to get down and dirty and rough play. The roles aren't supposed to be allowed to collide. People believe the women should only be posed and the boys can rough house it. Like, it's common sense to them.
5. In the movie 'Mona Lisa's Smile, housewife' the women were expected the be the housewife and never complain, even if he made her unhappy. She just had to get over it.
6. In the movie 'A league of their own' they had only let the girls play because the men were off in the war. They even let them work, men's work, but once the men returned they were supposed to give up all their hard work to once again become a perfect housewife.

1. It fulfills important societal needs like it teaches some of the basic values of society, and helps individual identity with other members of society
2. In 'A league of their own' the women had a powerful talent but once the men returned they were supposed to give it up
3. There is much discrimination that women face from gender-based stereotypes, like that they are not good enough to play because they are women and not men. So, in their eyes, it's logic that they can't live up to the men.
4. In '42' Jackie Robinson was doubted of his talent because of his skin color. It wasn't that he wasn't a good ball player but because of the color of his skin made people hate on him.
5. Professional women sports are not given the amount of credit they are deserved. An example would be the USA women soccer team was being paid less than the boys even when they had won the world cup.
6. Sports teach basic beliefs, norms and values, promotes a sense of social identification, release of aggressive

All 5 of these topics have a connection is some way. For gender roles, it can be used in each other these lessons. Gender roles in sports or even socialization. The founders are how all of this has started. With the discovery of Nature vs. Nurture. They are also similar because they are everyday things around us. Everyday things that we are faced with. They all connect because they aren't just pointless information. It's used to show how our society is run, how the world once was and has sociology has helped us make a difference in it. How we were able to prove things wrong.

Each one of these is applied to my life in different ways. These are real issues that shape out society. Gender roles because it shouldn't have to be like that anymore. Seeing how they use to be treated and realize what we have done with that. Even with sports, we molded out society so that every is equal. That everyone should be treated the same within sports. It helps show me how far our world has come. Just how important sociology is to our everyday life. How we proved the unthinkable wrong. That woman can be powerful, that anyone should be able to play sports, to socialization skills, and even nature vs nurture.

Gender roles- Gender roles have totally turned the tables since back in the day. It's almost the opposite. Women used to be portrayed as the perfect wife, perfect women. Now, girls can be powerful. There are movies where the girls are the center of attention, the star. It's not like back then when girls just were bossed around, now they are the powerful ones. Some examples are, Katniss in 'The Hunger Games' because even though she's a girl that doesn't mean she can't stand up for her rights or be a role model. he proved society wrong because they consist of this image that women aren't meant to be strong and a leader, but boy was they wrong.

Sports- Back then, it was men were the stars of the sports. At one time while the men were at war the women filled in for them. Once the men returned the women were supposed to just give up their rights to play sports, but the men were wrong. Women have just as many rights to play sports as men because they are girls. Our society now shares the rights of sports with women. Also back then, black people were supposed to have nothing to do with sports. Jackie Robinson didn't care what color skin he was because he knew that didn't make him a worse player. He gave our society the right to believe that even if your black or white doesn't mean your any worse of a player.

Socialization

1. Socialization is the cultural process of learning to participate in group life. It takes place through cultural transmission.
2. The importance is without prolonged and intensive social contact, child cannot learn basics needs like walking, talking, and loving. Without it a infant cannot develop the sets of attitudes, values, beliefs and behavior associated with being a person of society.
3. Psychologists Harry and Margaret Harlow devised experiments that showed the negative effect of social isolation of rhesus monkeys. It showed that even human infants have emotional needs for affection, intimacy, and warmth
4. Socialization and the self have differentiation. There is the self concept with is the image you have of yourself. The looking glass self, which is when people's reaction are important to you. The significant others, which are those people who reactions are most important to you. The three stages are imitation stage, play stage, and game stage.
5. There are the agents of socialization. There is family, which is who you first see when born. Religion, which is your beliefs and practices you have. Schools, because kids are under the care and supervision of adults who are not relatives. Peer group, is a set of individuals of roughly the same age. Last, media, mass media are means of communication designed to reach the general population
6. The processes of socialization are desocialization, is when the process of giving up old norms, values, attitudes and behaviors. Resocialization which is when you adapt to the new norms, values, attitudes and behaviors. The anticipatory socialization, is the voluntary process of preparing the accept new norms, values, attitudes, and behaviors. Last are the reference groups.
