Spent a lot of time trying to make their lengths an widths look right. I realised that it was because I had been looking at it palm down, I never really had a good perspective of my piece, and that's why I didn't like the way it looked every time I picked it up. The 2nd hand had to be restarted because I tried to fold the fingers to create the hand stucture I was trying to make. When I did that and then tried to keep sculpting I was having a hard time keeping the fingers. This is when things went wrong as I tried to use my other hadn and intertwine the fingers like I was going to do for my final product, but then the wetter and slight thinner fingers of the 2nd hand couldn't support the weight of the other hands fingers, and they a ll got smooshed. As I rushed to seperate them I managed to crumple the 2nd hand almost paper thin. I tied to salvage it, but I was to frustrated to be as delicate and percise and just made the whole thing worse. I decided that I had to jsut reset, and let of some of the frustration by tearing it apart and with what might've been a little extra agreesion ramsheaded and restarted the second hand. The left hand split in half, Im guesing becasue thethumb made the left side heavier and I didn't brace it with anything so it split. This meat I had to redo some of the deatils on the back, and it doesn't really look as good as it did before, but it's okay. I got mounted and I feel pretty good. So I forgot I hadn't shaped the hand into the bent style I was going for, So I had to do that which to a long time because the clay was more leathery than soft. That was also a problem when I tried to put on the finger nails, because I could't really shape the ends of the fingers the way I needed to to add the depth for the nail. So I awkwardy added those and they don't look great but maybe during lunch tomorrow I was going to try and smooth them out. Another problem was the thumb, because I had to shift and stretch it over to match the left hands shape, which it wasn't really set up for, so I had to redo the thumb, which has to be like the 20th time I've had to redo a finger. The next problem was that it was bigger that the other hand for some reason, and again because it was harder it was really hard to shape. I spent like 2 hours just getting the hand ready to mount on. It didn't look great but I was getting frustrated so my plan was to mount and clean it up tomorrow during lunch. So I slipped and scored the hand, and when I mounted it I pushed it down so the slip would set and I'm guessing because it was bigger and heavier, the background sort of caved in around the hand. I don't really know how to fix with the hands on. I would  add something beneath the hand to support, but I cant lift the wall relief at this point without thinning in out and making the structural integrity worse. I'm just going to leave it here because I meet most of the project requirements, and if I do anything else I think I'll make it worse.]]> 2020-10-15 17:18:42 UTC
