Education differs according to class, race, etc., and is a factor that reinforces social inequality. Education reinforces inequality in the larger society. This can be an issue because it means that richer neighbourhoods may have better schools.

Different classes of people will mean different abilities, and affordability will be a decisive factor in educational attainment, with children who are well off and have a stable and comfortable learning environment receiving a better education.

Income inequality would not affect Devarius or Sara.

Even when children of lower-class families are able to attain higher education, conflict theorists argue that as the population becomes ‘more educated’, powerful groups simply raise the entry requirements for elite occupations. Thus, while children from working- or middle- class backgrounds may gain more and better educational qualifications than their parents or grandparents, the economic value of these qualifications declines.
