I believe it is an effective use of time for our SPED and ESOL groups. ELT has to be more structures for all other general ed. groups. Currently, we see too many inconsistencies from one teacher's class to the next, even through they are expected to remediate/reteach the same AKS for that week. I wish there was a way to have ready made, literacy based resources to reteach weak AKS without going through the time consuming process of having to find/create text every week. That would give us the consistency and more of the effectiveness that we are looking for. Overall, ELT should stay; we just need to overhaul the structure of it!

I would like to know more about the "rotation days" special ed is supposed to be using. It appeared to be running like a study skills. Should there be content direct instruction going on or is it just subject based support based on the day of the week?

ELT, I believe, is an effective use of our time when it is structured across the building for all areas. When we begin to do different things across contents, it becomes muddy and sometimes unmanageable as there are too many exceptions being given. We should do a better job of monitoring the effectiveness of ELT by enforcing the TT quizzes for next year for each content area. While I believe they are being done, we are not monitoring the effectiveness of it by using time to discuss the Target Time data as a whole group.

In 7th grade, I see the same AKS with various resources being used that are not consistent across the classes. In 8th grade, I see consistent work.

8th grade - This is a bit hard to keep up with due to the 3 levels; however, they have been implementing our established rotations for the most part. Some have "strayed" to use it for "catch-up" ....but this has been addressed.
7th Grade - The plan is well laid out and the increased rigor of the questioning used makes me believe that it is a good use of time.
6th grade - Teachers are following "the plan" - I do think there are ready for the upcoming change to have a more focused group.
