James Madison had already reinforced the second BUS and congress adopted protective tariffs but Madison would not allow for internal improvements.

Republicans went through strains adjusting to times and with the election of 1824. Some republicans like John Rudolph clung to the ideals of limited gov. and strict interpretation of the constituion. The majority wanted a large army and navy alongside with a second BUS this was more of a federalist program. During Monroe's presidency Republicans were really tested with the different ideologies and when the next term happened the splitting of parties begun.

This led to bankrupcies and unemployment and foreclosures of land in the West. BUS was then hated by most because of the debt it put many citizens in.

The Era of Good Feelings was suppose to bring the nation together in a sense of ecnomic prosperity and unity. The Era of Good Feelings really was good. The country had its fault like bringing back BUS which made the whole country go into an ecnomic depression that then made many Western farmers bankrupt and angry. There was a lot of good outcomes though. The Monroe Doctrine forbid any European colonization on American land and any European affairs in the Western Hemisphere. Then the creation of canals connected eastern cities and western farms together ecnomically and improved transportation. Also the expansion of voting rights to all white men no matter their religion or social status increased voting numbers by a lot making elections more politically equal. These all show that the Era of Good Feelings connected America through political growth from expanding voting rights and the Monroe doctrine and helping boost the economy through the canals.
