Lyons is very eccentric and dream-chasing. Lyons is the type of person who thought a normal job was boring. He rather travel and play his instrument in front of a crowd. Lyons sees himself as an eccentric go-getter. He rather get money in a fun way that he likes instead of getting his hands dirty in job he hates. Lyons tells his father that he doesn't want to work with him picking up others trash he rather be a musician and play his guitar. His father, Troy, thinks him going out to different clubs and playing his music is a waste of time. He thinks Lyons is a deadbeat especially since he always comes in asking him for money. Troy believes he wont get anywhere in life with his music.

I chose this song because Lyon doesn't want to stop believing in his dream. Even though Troy tells him to he doesn't quit. I chose the Lyrics because Lyon had to lose some to win some, but he doesn't stop or quit.

The message of the play is love and respect within a family. This is the theme because the movie and book show a lot of different types of loving and/or respectful interactions. Troy wants his son to respect him without any love because he is his father. Rose loved Troy enough to stay with him and leave her dreams behind even though he didn't.
