The first quote for the theme "Eternal Punishment" surrounds itself in a very evil environment because of how it describes hell as a pit of flames and that the devil will wait for the person who committed the sins or also known as the sinner. Edwards uses a lot of imagery so the reader can picture what is happening. It is related to the theme because the quote describes what happens when you go to hell, or eternal punishment.

The second quote for the theme "Eternal Punishment" continues to describe hell. In the quote, it also says that hell is a pit for the sinners made by God himself. It then uses more imagery and metaphor. Edwards compared hell as a mouth opening, ready to put another sinner in. The last part of the quote means that there is nothing that you can do once you are in hell. This quote relates to the theme since it explains and describes your punishment once you sin.

This second Quote fits the theme of "Being "born again"" because The author in a way is trying to show that when you follow God You are saved and the danger and fear and anything that can be bad can be stopped and help back my God. They are saying that there are better ways and that you should turn from your sins, they are using words that sound like being saved in a way to spread their word and get others to come follow God and save themselves.

This first quote works for the theme of "Being "born again"" because They are talking about how if you are moral and strict or sober and religious you can still be saved and they encourage the whole being born again ways. They believe that many have already lost their selves and lost their souls and need to be born again but in other parts of the text they are very clear that if you do some of the worst sins you wont be able to be saved any more so you need to fix your sins and or save your selves sooner rather than later.
