There are many different ways to accommodate people with autism, and while it may seem like they are emotionally unattached, they do genuinely care but do not understand how to show it. Without Autism, many of the contributions made to humanity would not be available.

Along with that I was also informed that there are certain things, like waving flags, that can cause an organism on the spectrum completely freeze. What i found extremely intriguing was the fact that, people with autism think in pictures. As a result of that, an autistic perason's mind can be compared to a google picture search. I found that extremely compelling. All in all this video taught me to look at people with this disability in a different perspective, and that there is such a broad array of effects autism can cause to the people who have it.

What I learned from the video is that autism is on spectrum which can range from people might not being able to verbally talk, to people who do have some autism but are geniuses. Autistic people's brains are wired differently which I did know, but I didn't know they mostly learned visually. I also learned that people with aspergers are on the autistic spectrum which is something I didn't know because I thought it was something separate from autism. Another thing I didn't know were geniuses like Nikola Tesla and Albert Einstein would be considered to have autism today. Overall people with autism are just different and you shouldn't assume that it's makes them incapable of being like normal people.

I originally thought that autism was like a disabling disease and I now know that it really isn't. That autism comes in a large variety from some of it not being noticeable at all and some being able to completely stop them from being able to verbally communicate. Even some of the geniuses that are the background some of the biggest things in our world would be categorized as having autism. This Ted Talk was very informative on the prospect of autism and the fact that autism isn't as bad as a debilitating mental disorder that it is usually made out to seem.

This TED talk really informed me about the way that autistic people think and live their life when relating to their brain. I learned that people with autism do not think in "language" like the usual specimen, but more like animals, which makes it easier for them to relate to animals. Most autistic people think in pictures, for example, Temple Grandin who then "plays" a movie in her brain on the images she is imagining. I also learned that aspergers is a form of autism even though I thought it was something completely exclusive.

The autistic mind to me didn't seem to different from an non-autistic person , besides the communication and social part of them. Temple also states ,"[There are three types of thinkers"]. Temple herself is a "Photo Realistic Visual Thinker", which not only does she provide situations for each mind but their strengths as well. The visual mind tends to excell in a way very similar to "Google Images". Which in shorten terms, means her mind memorizes things in specific and realistic pictures . Temple explained almost perfectly how with the correct teaching, even kids who seem like they would never do good in school can be motivated to succeed by just teaching in a way that the student can find interested to them. She teaches how some of the smartest minds and individuals turned out to be autistic, and that sometimes despite what we think, autism isn't always a disability or negative thing. Instead it can be something that can change the entire world in a good or bad way.

During this TED talk, I learned many intriguing facts about the autism spectrum. For example, I found the different categories of autism really intriguing. It was just fascinating how different people with autism can be, and how much research has gone into discovering this. This relates almost to a kind of fantasy-like spectrum, as one "class" of autism has different abilities and "disabilities," (depending on how you look at them), that makes each case more or less fascinating than others. Not to mention the fact that I know a very close person who has autism, and I am only learning about this now.

I feel educated and enlightened on the topic that is autism after watching this TED Talk. Whenever I heard the word "autism" I would automatically think of someone who is disabled and unable to do most things that "normal" people are capable of doing so. After seeing Temple Grandin shed light on this topic, I've realized that this issue isn't brought up enough. Autistic people have brilliant minds (I've met a few people with autism who are geniuses) and because of how the way society has labeled them as disabled, they are often looked down upon or not even worthy of acknowledging.

I've learned that autism shouldn't be considered as a disability because it's not. This video shows me that autism is not a disability, but a different way of thinking. It showed me that autism is more expressed by pictures, and hearing. They showed a dog in the picture to represent autism and how it coralates with there thinking. This awesome speaker showed me that the way of thinking has its good and bad. It showed how it excelled from the norm in different parts. It got me thinking of how I would picture these situations my self and how they would look at it. This speaker created a great view for autism, as showed her taking advantage of her abilitys and driving her self to success. Which in my opinion is a very great example to all of us!

I have learned that some people used their autism as an advantage. Autism can be someone non-verbal to someone who is brilliant. There are three different kinds of thinking there is pattern thinkers, verbal thinkers, and visual thinkers. People who have autism often think visually. When you think visually you can relate to animals in a way and Temple Grandin used this to her advantage. A normal brain ignores detail so most people fail to pick up problems but people with autism can. People use autism to their advantage and it helps them see things differently then someone without autism.

I didn't really understand how the autistic brain worked really till this video because i didn't think it looked at the small letters i thought it only looked at the big letters but this video showed me that they see the small letters first. Temple Grandin showed her experience of how she used her disability as an advantage and it is very inspiring because people with autism should not be labeled as disable and forgotten and she has inspired people to acknowledge and socialize with people that have autism because they are just like us, just their brain is different but that doesn't make them worthy of your time.

Their brain simply just works differently than the average persons. Its not in anyway a bad thing, if anything people with autism are a lot more intelligent than most people. Their way of expressing their intelligence is different too. Most people with autism think in pictures which makes their way of learning and interpreting things a lot more advanced and creative. In conclusion, this video taught me that people with autism are not 'less intelligent' or 'less smart', They're like normal people, just with a different way of thinking. Because I have a younger cousin who is autistic actually and I never knew why he would act the way he acted, until I got older I started understanding it more clearly. To me autism shouldn't really underestimate those who have it, like people may think just because they have it means their more dumb or should be treated any different.

Autism is very interesting and I've always wanted to learn more about it. I did not know that many autistic people think in pictures. It is very interesting that autistic children tend to be very fixated in something and he/she should be taught and motivated by using what they are fixated on. The different types of thinkers are also very interesting; there is the photo realistic visual thinker, the pattern thinker, and the verbal mind. When Grandin was talking about these types of thinkers, I instantly thought about our education system. There are things that autistic people need to be taught in order to be successful that schools do not offer for them. Autism is a common disorder, there are more than 200,000 cases per year in the US, yet many people view autism incorrectly. We should all change our opinion of autism and see what it truly is. I really like what she once said, "If by some magic, autism had been eradicated from the face of the earth, then men would still be socializing in front of a wood fire at the entrance to a cave." If it wasn't for so many bright minds (possibly with autism) we would not have many of the advancements we have now.

I never really had much of an idea of what went on in an autistic person's mind, until I saw the video of Temple Grandin explaining it. The information she gave us about how the brain works with autism through images and how differently they think, made me realize how their brains are not as different as people explain it to be than a "normal" human beings. What I truly did not know is that there isn't just one type of autism. There's a wide spectrum of it. There are people who need a little bit more help and there are super geniuses that don't need any. However, what people who don't have an open- mind don't know is that they're still human. Whether their brains are wired differently or not, it doesn't mean they have a crippling disability. It's the simple fact that their different than the rest. I also learned that they have a hard time displaying their emotions towards others. Also, some have a tremendously great memory, like Grandin. When a word like "dog" is mentioned, they have images in their mind like how Google would do if you searched up the same word.

To get the most out of an autistic mind, the task has to be very specific and they'll do that task well and with the utmost detail. I didn't know the full spectrum of autism since I didn't understand it. People with autism can grow up to be software engineers and other careers which require higher thinking. The way Grandin describes her type of thinking and compared it to google images, made it very clear what a visual thinker is. It is very interesting how detailed autistic minds can be which probably makes them better at certain detail oriented careers. The world really does need all kinds of minds.

I took a lot from the Ted talk, how teachers today don’t know what do do with children who are way too smart or children who have different forms of thinking and I think that schools should do more to help those children make classes more interesting instead of talking and talking, show examples and use pictures because everyone including autistic children like pictures. Temple is very inspiring I liked the talk that She gave a lot it shows that there are other ways that people think and I didn’t know that before. Children with autism should not be treated any other way just because they don’t look okay or they aren’t the same, it just means that their minds are special and they have a higher ability to think and people need to see it not as something very bad but as something that they could learn from.

She also explains how her brain thinks and processes information; she sees and thinks in pictures instead of words like the rest of us. I found this quite interesting and a new piece of information for me because I found out a lot of autistic people think that way too. My overall takeaway from the video though is that we need better ways of teaching and interacting with people with autism because a lot of teachers don't know how to teach in the way that's best for them. There are many people in the world with autism, whether it be a little or a lot, and they can really contribute to the world. Temple Grandin spoke a lot about this in the TED talk and really explained how many think. It gives a different perspective on how to perceive things and problem solve. I really like what she said about how she is passionate about doing things that make a differnce in the world, and that things can sound great in theory, but if nothing is done, then it does not matter.

While watching the video, I thought to myself; why aren't they're anymore or growing numbers of these special types of Autistic people like Mary Temple Grandin. It's because we push them away and tell them to do things that they can't do. In schools, the education is beginning to be a very strict on the way people are taught, in the learning curriculum they're very basic and needed learning skills in school to succeed as an average student. Now just like Mary, in school you needed to learn how to comprehend in language and literature; and she couldn't do that, "photo realistic thinkers like" she stated when talking about the different types of learning with different people. Now the schools would push them away, and who can blame them? Some autistic people have very complicated minds and finding whats either improved or negatived, not to mention how much time and resources these kinds of students need so that we even know how they work. Its easy to not help them, but its hard to let them go waste. But overall, we need to change how we teach our students, because almost everyone is fixed to be taught differently; but easier said than done.

Well some important takeaways I learned from the talk was that you should never judge a person because they are label with a "Disorder". Watching Temple Grandin's Ted talk was a very important one that I feel everyone should watch, to understand what autism really is. It's not just people that have lost abilities, they may lose something but they have something else that is way better than your or my brain. I thought she was exquisite.

Autistic individuals have a unique mind compared to others. Many of these individuals think differently with school and society. For example, art helped Temple Grandin know how to use her mind. Today teachers and students don't really know how these autistic kids or adults think on a daily basis. School is one of the ways their autism can help these individuals to know how they can control their own brain. There should be more hands on school classes because this is a way of helping an autistic kids to become more social with their classmates and others. Autism can affects individuals hearing, and sight. Parents should be informed on what is happening to their child's brain when having autism. Parents can help their children learn in various types of ways to develop a less challenging mind.

I didn't learn much more than I already know, due to my brother technically having autism. He isn't as highly functioning as she is, so my family has had to learn this and help him out. But, most don't understand what it actually does to someone, it doesn't make them dumb or unintelligent. It just means he thinks differently, so much so that they have to use this term for it. Frankly, I believe it is inappropriate to use the word autistic due to how it portrays people now. Now, if you are autistic it doesn't mean what it was originally meant to mean. So, of what I didn't already know, I just learned that my brother got worse than she did, but worse and worse still looms in the population with different minds and sets that are valuable to society but are pushed away. Like an unfair discrimination that would not be okay by normal standards, but it is allowed to stay because we refuse to say anything.

I don't even want to put mentally challenged because their not. They just see things differently. It's amazing how they pick up on small things. I think their way smarter then us with "regular brains". My uncle always told me your cousin has autism so you have to explain things to him. I would always say no, he's really smart you guys just baby him. My cousin is really smart when it comes to technology! It's mind blowing. What I learned was that just because you have a mental disability doesn't make you slower than any other kid without one.

Autistic people are at advantages but also disadvantages as well. The way Autistic people think are really cool because it makes them better at artistic stuff and constructional types of stuff. Autistic people seem smarter then people who don't have autism because they pick up the smallest details while i can barley remember which of my light switches belong to each circuit.

Just as I'm sure many people- do, I used to think autism was something that could affect one negatively or be more of a hindrance than an aid. I'm so glad I saw this TED talk because I am no longer ignorant. Some of the key details I gathered from Temple Grandin, were that there are more than one type of autism and that it's a rather broad spectrum that affect everyone differently, ranging from non-verbal to super-genius. Temple Grandin really emphasized how these minds are taking rule of Silicon Valley (which, to my understanding, is some place where things are invented and developed??) and it is truly incredible to be so wrong about this. I am now for sure hooked on watching more TED talks because it was so much informative than I was expecting it to be.

An important takeaway that I gathered from this lesson is that there are different ways that autistic people think. Their minds attend with details. The types of thinking are, photo realistic visual, patter thinkers, and verbal mind. Photo realistic visual are thinkers that are poor at algebra. Not every autistic kid is going to be a visual thinker. Pattern thinkers think with music and math but they problem reading. Last but not least, verbal mind thinkers are poor at drawing and know every fact about everything. Some are bothered by florescent lights, others have problems with sound sensitivity. Their sensory based information's are put into categories, like dogs.

I learned that people with autism see things through different views and a lot of the time they don't get the education they need because they are misunderstood. I also learned that they think with pictures. Depending on their spectrum, autistic people can be very smart. On a series on Netflix called Atypical, it shows that the main character is autistic and he is very smart, he just has a different way to process information. Overall, watching the Temple Grandin video has changed my views on autism because you kind of have to go into her world in order to understand. The world does need all types of minds because if everyone was the same, you wouldn't be able to expand your knowledge.

I've never really met anyone with autism, so my perception of it was quite incorrect and inaccurate. Although some people who are affected by autism may be limited with their communication, their minds surely aren't limited. Temple Grandin has taught me that autism can be of use and can be applied to our modern-day world. I've been so ignorant to the way that people have been able to think, I would have never believed that it was possible to think in pictures. But, this is how autism works, it is much more complex than we believed it was. Temple Grandin's TED talk has filled me with delight and I am pleased that she has created a platform that is able to empower autistic minds to reach their highest potential.

The ability to pick up the small details in such a hypersensitive way was something I did not know before. If we use more autistic perspectives (such as the visually or mentally gifted) we may uncover completely different more efficient ways to carry out specific tasks.

I learned that the mind of a person with autism functions and thinks differently than any other mind. One thing of an autistic mind is that it tends to be a specialist mind in which it is good at one thing and bad at something else. There are also different types of thinkers like realistic visual thinkers who are bad at algebra. Another type of thinker is a pattern thinker who are good with music and math but often have problems with reading. Another is a verbal thinker who know every fact about everything but are poor at drawing. People with autism do have brilliant minds but there is a cost of losing a few social circuits meaning some may have social problems. I strongly believe that everybody needs to put their minds together to solve problems in the future.

Some people are really smart and this "disability" is really a gift in disguise. On the other hand, there are people with autism that have a difficult time when doing the simplest of tasks. The speaker used her autism to her advantage and researched and made a living with animals by being in an animals shoes. In conclusion, the Ted talk taught me things about autism that I have never new before. This video was very informative and helped me wrap my mind around autism and people with it.

Autism people think and see things in a very different and quite extraordinary way. They tend to pick up on details the average brain does not pick up at first glance. Their are many different types of minds and thinking processes out their. At the end of the day all those "different" great minds are needed. Rather then viewing Autism as a problem it should be viewed as a solution.

Every mind works differently. For example, autistic people with an artistic mind, see everything in pictures. Each mind has fields were they excel and and fields were they don't. Someone with a pattern mind will succeed in math while they may struggle in reading. Autistic people have such extraordinary minds that pickup even the slightest detail. People should start to understand more autistic people and how their minds work, instead of labeling them as disabled. They are not disabled. Most of them actually have minds that are going to lead them to great success because of the impact that they are going to have on the world.

An important takeaway that I gathered from the TedTalk lesson, was how different people can learn and how their behavior is connected to how they think. Personally, this helped me understand how to talk, act, and treat a person with autism which is important since I do interact with a few kids that have been diagnosed with autism and other mental differences. I don’t think I learned anything brand knew or seem to get new information, I just understood the information that I did have a little bit better or in a new light. I always knew that most kids that have been diagnosed with a form of autism would specialize themselves in a certain area which is something that I can admire. I say that because people with autism have to surpass prejudices, social challenges, and their own personal struggles with self-control. Something that came up in the TedTalk that I find interesting and exciting was the mention of the physical Nero pathways of the brain; I as an aspiring bioengineer and doctor would like to further research this as well as work with kids with autism.

After watching the TedTalk with Temple Grandin, I came to the realization of how there is much more to autism then what most people would think. People who have autism are seen as people with disabilities, but when you go in depth of how autism really works, you realize it isn't a bad thing. Autistic people see things differently, they see things in a whole new perspective than people without autism. They tend to see things more visually rather than verbally. They also tend to see things more as pictures rather than in language, and they pay more attention to smaller details than the normal human mind would. Having autistic people in the world allows us to view things through a different perspective, mainly through an autistic mind rather than a normal mind, and it shows us an entirely new unique level of thinking overall.

After watching the TedTalk with Temple Grandin, some important takeaways that I gathered was that people learn in so many different ways, and just because they don't learn like you, doesn't mean that they should be looked upon in a bad way. Another takeaway is that autistic people give us a way to see a problem in a different perspective, and find a solution. I learned that there are different levels of autism and that in our modern world today, there are so many people who don't pay attention to the little details and how important they are. I also learned that people with autism learn visually, rather than verbally. When most people hear the word 'autism', they immediately think negatively of them, ignoring the fact that some autistic people have contributed so much to the world. Although autism people may have difficulties doing very simple things, they can do very complex things that we can't. Overall, I found this TedTalk very interesting and I hope that more people see this, to understand that people with autism just see the world differently. And different can be good.

Some important takeaways that I gathered from the lesson was that people with autism have the ability to think in pictures. People with autism have an advantage because there ability helps them solve some problems that other brains might miss. People with autism are a big part of this world and it’s sad to think that if someone hears that somebody else has autism they automatically look at that oeeeon in a negative way instead look at the postive thing about that person. I learned that people with autism are very successful with classes that have to do with visuals and that’s because they are more visual thinkers thank verbal thinkers. Having autistic people in this world is great because they see what all the others might not see. I found interesting that animals are visual thinkers as well and that is why people with autism are usually caonoared to them. Overall, this TedTalk helped me learn more about autism I feel as if others in this world should listen to this to understand that autism is not necessarily a bad thing, autism is just another perspective of the world. Being different is not always a bad thing. Being different can help others see the world in a different way.
