"If parents care about their children they will do X." I feel like this can make parents think I have to do these certain things in order to make sure they are a good parent. Or if they thing if I dont do this like other parents then I am not a good one.

Schools know what's best for children and school personnel can and should set the educational roles of parents.

I think schools do not know what is the best because they do not know what is going on at home. or what the family traits are. has to balance between home and school.

Instead, the teacher can ask families what they do to foster their child's development and if we can help them with any barriers that prevent them from being able to achieve those goals. How can we partner together?

It is never the same for every family or even every child in the family. We have to take every child/family seperately. Circumstances are a huge reason why it can't look the same, personalities, backgrounds, traditions, status, mental health etc. are other things that pay a part.

Schools do know a lot about child development but it undermines the importance of the role of the family and communities a child is part of, so I would implement more parent - teacher communication.

Family involvement is so different based on what your family looks like, such as culture, community, or socioeconomic background. I would implement more cultural education at home and in the classroom.

This assumes someone knows what parents are doing with their children and it assumes one thing works for every child. I would implement showing different ways that work and always show different options for what we are trying to help with.

I think, as a professional, it's easy to say what parents should and shouldn't do if they cared for their children. We don't know what else the family is dealing with, what other circumstances and situations are going on in their lives. I try to operate from a place where I'm giving the parents/families grace and understanding that they are doing the best they can with the resources they have available to them.

I know this not to be true. I work with people from a diverse number of cultures and each family parents differently. I'e neger doubted the love each family feels for their child, I've spent time around babies and I feel compelled to fall in love with them, I think that's a universal experience, how each family expresses that love is different.

for instance, some families parent in a more compliant style where the children are expected to do what the parent says quickly. other families are much more linient and permissive letting their kids do alot of what they want, only stopping them if its really important.
