The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain took place in Kennesaw, Georgia. General William Sherman had just started his Atlanta campaign, where the union fought several battles other than Kennesaw Mountain, including; Pine Mountain and Kolb’s Farm around Marietta, Georgia. Gen. Sherman's union army was fighting against General Joseph E. Johnston's confederate army. The general had just withdrawn his army to a new defensive position at Kennesaw Mountain, because the confederates afraid of “envelopment”. The battles fought led General Johnston to establish a seven mile long entrenched arc shape line beginning at Kennesaw Mountain and Little Kennesaw Mountain. 8:00 am- On June 27th, more than fifty cannons fired on Kennesaw Mountain
At the center of the Union line, the two armies were only 400 yards apart. Federal Artillery opened at this time. Union army was under heavy fire. 
After 10:00 am-  The Union’s plan became disorganized and the men fell back.  
11;30 a.m- Union attack failed. The Battle had 3,000 union casualties and 1,000 confederate casualties; with a total of 4,000 casualties. The battle resulted in a Confederate Victory.
