The foreign influence of makeup—particularly foundation—in Philippine pop culture can be traced to Western and Korean beauty standards. Western brands popularized fair, flawless skin as the ideal, while the K-beauty wave introduced lightweight, dewy finishes that shaped local trends. These influences are evident in the rise of imported makeup brands, celebrity endorsements, and social media beauty tutorials, which encouraged Filipinos to adopt global beauty practices while blending them with local preferences.

Shary Love A. Dologuin BSED - ENGLISH 3A

The guitar has had a strong influence in many aspects of culture, music, and society. It became one of the most popular instruments because of its versatility—it can play melody, harmony, and rhythm at the same time. The modern guitar evolved from Spain. Its roots trace back to early stringed instruments like the vihuela and lute used in Spain during the Renaissance. Over time, the Spanish guitar developed its familiar shape, six strings, and tuning, which became the basis for the classical guitar. From Spain, it spread to other parts of Europe and eventually to the Americas, influencing countless musical styles worldwide. The guitar came to the Philippines through Spanish colonization in the 16th century. Spanish missionaries and settlers brought the instrument, using it in churches, schools, and social gatherings. Filipinos quickly adopted it, blending it with local music and creating their own styles, like the kundiman and folk songs. Over time, it became a key instrument in Filipino culture, used in serenades, festivals, and modern music.

I chose is lechon baboy, and the photo was taken during the birthday celebration of my father. One of the most well-liked dishes in the Philippines is lechon, particularly at fiestas, birthday parties, and other large events. Beginning with their colonization of the Philippines, the Spanish had a significant influence on this meal. Lechon, which translates as "roasted pig," is a Spanish word, and the custom of cooking an entire pig over fire originated there. Lechon was also offered during significant feasts and festivities in Spanish culture, a custom that the Filipino people adopted. By incorporating regional flavours, spices, and dipping sauces like lechon sauce, we eventually transformed it into our own. Lechon baboy is still an essential of Filipino festivities today, demonstrating how Filipino customs and Spanish culture merged to produce something special.

Samgyupsal (삼겹살) is a popular Korean dish made of thick slices of pork belly grilled at the table. It's usually enjoyed with side dishes like kimchi, garlic, dipping sauces, and wrapped in lettuce. What makes it special is the fun, interactive way it’s eaten—grilling your own meat and making your own wraps. It’s even more enjoyable when shared with someone you love, making the meal not just delicious but also memorable. As Korean culture spreads globally, samgyupsal has been embraced and adapted around the world. International restaurants often fuse the traditional dish with Western elements like cheese dips or flavored meats to suit local tastes. Inspired by other grilling traditions like Japanese yakiniku or Western BBQ, samgyupsal has evolved—but the heart of it remains the same: cooking, eating, and having fun together, especially with loved ones.

They are traditional eating utensils that originated in China thousands of years ago and later spread to other Asian countries like Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Today, chopsticks are not only part of Asian dining culture but have also reached global popularity. In the Philippines, they show the influence of Chinese culture, especially in food. Dishes like siomai, mami, and pancit, which are commonly enjoyed in Filipino-Chinese restaurants, are often eaten with chopsticks.
