learning with jello

A fun activity for a toddler is learning colors, learning to smell, touch, see, hear sounds through playing with jello. Playing by squeezing it with your hands teaches textures. With cookie cutters you can guide a toddler to make different shapes and to identify each one. In our group we talked about how a mom would place their child in a safe seat, and let her son explore how the jello felt, by this he was able to identify if it was hard, moldable, soft. He quickly learned his colors, that he liked the smell and taste. This helped him build his motor skills, and eventually was able to make shapes and gently pick up jello figures without smashing them. DRDP Phys-Heath 3 & 4, SED 5

Then she slowly guides each leg to the chest and back. This activity will help the infants gross motor skills. The DRDP measures that are being addressed PD-HLTH 3

Exploring with our fingers.
Finger painting is a wonderful activity for children to create art while also having fun. For our activity, the children will be using washable non-toxic finger paint. Before painting, we will give each student a plastic apron to protect their clothes. We will provide each student with one piece of white paper to paint with. We will also offer three colors for finger painting, but the students have to choose just one or two colors. We will spray some paint on the paper and then have them use their fingers to paint. When children feel the squishy texture of the paint, they experience the colors mixing which encourages their creativity. Finger painting also allows them to express their emotions through the paint.
The DRDP measures that are being assessed are ATL-REG 1,2,3.4,5 PD-HLTH 4 SED 4
(Group 2)

Mixing colors together.
For our activity, we will be using a ziplock bag, some washable non-toxic paint, and a piece of paper. Each student will choose two colors of paint to put in the ziplock bag and the teachers will put a piece of paper in the bag. Once the ziplock bag is closed then the students will use their fingers to mix the paint in the bag. This sensory component can be very calming to babies. It allows them to decompress and be less fussy by seeing the colors mix. This activity can be a part of the first 5. They visually see colors mixing, the paint can be reusable, and it helps with their social-emotional.
The DRDP measures that are being assessed ATL-REG 1,2,3,4,5 PD-HLTH 4
(Group 2)

Today was a treat. The head teacher introduced a fun and safe way of making play doe. First she broke the class into two groups and placed trays in front of every kid with a sprinkle of flour on them. Then she placed two mixing bowls in the middle of table. Then she gave the instructions to the assistant teacher to mix 8 tbsp flour and 2 tbsp of salt in one mixing bowl. In the other bowl mix 60 ml of warm water and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. As the teacher is adding the ingredient's she's explaining what she adds and how much she is adding. She combines the ingredients together and past the bowl around so every kid can get chance to mix the ingredients together. Then the teacher puts a little bit of play doe on each tray and give a couple of drops of food coloring so the kids can watch the play doe change colors. this kept the kids occupied and on the edge of there seats watching the chemicals mix and being apart of science.

I have chosen children aged from one to two years for the game of shapes. The teachers make a board of wood and draw the shapes they want on it and put the velcro in them, then they make paper shapes such as circles, squares, triangles, simple shapes that they can do at that age, then the teacher starts to show the children how to make that. This helps them learn shapes and develop their language. It also helps them learn numbers, such as asking how many triangles there are on the board. I know that it is difficult for their age, but it is not impossible.

I love the mirror activity for kids. Bring a mirror with you, but it should be covered with something to make it secure. Lay your baby on his tummy in front of her. You will notice that your baby starts laughing and moving, such as pushing his legs in the air and pushing his body up to the mirror, imitating himself, and making cute sounds. It helps in the motor development of the child.

Teacher proceeded to walk to the other side of the yard which indicated the finish line. Teacher excitedly asked children, " are you ready to play the game"? Children said, "yeah"! The teacher turned around, and said, "green light" Students started to pedal towards the teacher. Once the teacher felt the children were approaching her, she turns around and says, "red light".

In the playground, the teachers created a maze with chalk for the children to walk through. If the children were to walk out of the maze they would get sucked into the lava. Throughout the game, we played the song "The floor is lava dance" so that the children can use their imagination and it would give them options to jump, tiptoe, skate, or run. The song is the main factor in the game. It controls the outcome of the game. The children had to figure out how to get out of the maze, which made them more excited.
The DRDP measures that are being assessed are ATL-REG 1,3,4,6,7 SED 3, LLD 1, 2 VPA 1,2,3,4 PD-HLTH 2,9 HSS 1,2 COG 2
(Group 2)

While one teacher is setting up the obstacle course, the children watch patiently from a distance. Teacher A starts by setting out the gym mats where children will be tumbling on freestyle, then she lines up the cones so that children will zig zag through them, next is the balance beam, children will have to balance to get across and not fall down, then 3 hula hoops are set up on the floor and the kids will have to hop in each circle to get to the final destination which is the basketball hoop. They will have to reach for the ball from the last hula hoop then shoots the ball to make the basket. The DRDP measures that are being assessed are PD-HLTH 3,4,5, AND 9.
Group #1
