* Verbs which describe actions, for example: cook, work,make, bake can be use in the present simple or continuous.
you can see the difference in the next examples:
-What are you baking? 
-She always bakes cakes.

*Verbs which describe states or feeling(not actions) are non-action verbs. They are not usually used in the present continuous.
Here we can find different types of those verbs: agree, be,believe,belong, depend, forget, hate, hear, need, love,seem,refer, know,etc.
For example:

-I hate the vegetables.
-I need you now.
-She prefers eat pasta.
