Past Simple - Understanding the Past

In English, we use different verb forms to talk about actions that happened in the past. One of these forms is called the "Past Simple." The Past Simple is used to describe actions that have already happened and have finished.

To form the Past Simple, we usually add "-ed" to the base form of regular verbs. For example, the base form of the verb "walk" is "walk," and in the Past Simple, it becomes "walked." However, there are some irregular verbs that do not follow this pattern and have their own unique forms. For example, the base form of the verb "go" is "go," but in the Past Simple, it becomes "went."

Let's look at some examples:

1. Regular verb (add "-ed"):

2. Irregular verb (unique form):

3. Irregular verb (unique form):
