Throughout the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy", various insane coincidences occur. The book even jokingly pokes fun at itself for including these improbable moments or occurrences "However it does not go on to say that with space being the mind boggling size it is the chance of getting picked up by another ship within those 30 seconds are two to the power of two hundred" "The fact that 29 seconds later Ford and Arthur were rescued". This shows the absurdity of the written events and that the book was written with this in mind.
The book has various other moments where things we could consider incredibly improbable happen.

The theme of ridiculousness matches to The "Percy Jackson" series of novels. In those books, Greek and Roman mythology exists along with the modern world. This is a ridiculous and improbable scenario. Quotes such as "Yes! The horse agreed enthusiastically. Poseidon can come in, too! We will eat you both! Seafood!"
Make you question the reality of the story.

In Paris, France they recently placed these in crowded areas, which offended several people. These where eventually stuffed with feminine hygiene products and defaced.

Whilst this poem makes no sort of sense it does relate to my theme. It's a very loosely interpretable poem. So in other words point of view matters. In my case i just see it as random mildly meaningful lines. It's ridiculous in the sense that it is somewhat unexpected during the first read you have no idea where the next line will take you. Not unlike the ridiculous nature of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy".

Out of all things to end your South African trip you wouldn't think a rat eating your food and chewing your toe being a possible reason. A former British soccer player encountered just this. As the intro states this is a ridiculous and improbable event with a low percentage of even happening. Like in the aforementioned quote from the book "chance of getting picked up by another ship within those 30 seconds are two to the power of two hundred" , The chance of this ever happening is incredibly low, yet it did.
