Technology has created digital emotional cues, like emojis and GIFs, allowing for quick expression but doesn't reduce the potential emotional responses. I am sure we can all think of a time when we have poured our thumbs into explaining something to simply get a thumbs up in return. Those reactions to the thumbs up...that's where you have to make the effort to respond to or be left with a communication gap.
