The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel book to the Hunger Games trilogy. It revolves around Coriolanus Snow and how, over time he dehumanizes the ideas of the games. Over time Snow lacks remorse when he gets people killed, ratting his only friend out to be hung. The book ends when Lucy Gray realizes Snow killed more people than she though and runs away.

I found it very interesting to learn about how people's values changed over time. I learned that the American dream changed into being rich and famous over time, when before it was equality. While people are becoming more equal, the rich get richer and tend to avoid those who aren't rich. The different movements in art throughout American history were also interesting as they showed what people found appealing. Over time people have been more drawn to neutral colors, and in the past people loved vibrant and colorful things.
