He tries to live a normal life even though he has a special power, the ability to shock things. He tries to keep it secret, but it is very hard to do so. It changes, though, when he meets Taylor Ridley. Taylor has the ability to 'reset' people, which means she can stop them from whatever they are doing and make them forget it.  
With the help of Ostin, Michael's best friend, the two join forces and try to figure out why they have the powers they do. Then, Taylor and Michael are invited to attend an school, the Elgen Academy in Pasadena. They get a ride to the school, and when they finally get there, they find out it is not actually a school. It is actually a facility for people like them with electric powers.
