Explaining portfolio making

I looked though all the work I have done in the previous 3 years and planned very carefully what I want to present. I thought that the first 7 pages were the most important ones, because you have to intrigue the interviewer. I didn’t have access to Photoshop, which made it a little harder, but I managed and downloaded an ap called “CamScanner” on my phone then I scanned all the images I wanted to include in the portfolio, which turned the images from paper background to white background, which then helped me to clean up the annotation points and any writing or dirt in general. To do that, I used Instagram stories as I upload a photo and tapped on the pen icon at the top right of the screen, chose white colour and started drawing where I wanted to cover. I used “InstaSize” to add multiple images on one page.

The first page of the portfolio is eye- catching and colourful, which was exactly what I was going for. Also the “SHAPE PROJECT” has always been my favourite, because it was my first final major project, and the only project I had a lot of time to plan and make. I am really proud of the dress I made, because I put a lot of time and effort into it. The next two pages are from the same project and I decided that I should put them together, because they are very different from each other, to prove that I am interested in creating different kind of clothes, each a different style.

I included pictures of the final garment and also of the final design, because I thought it is important to show that the illustration and the final garment look the same. Even if the illustrations are not that great the final garment makes up for it.

I also included four collections from different projects, to show drawing and sense of fashion skills. I chose the first collection (cultural), to be at the front (fourth page), because I think it is one of my best collections so far and I think it is very innovative and glamorous.

I decided to include another collection of white shirts with pictures prints, which I took of my classmate. I thought that putting the mood board from the exact same project right after it would be a good idea, to show where I got my inspiration from. This mood board is also one of the ones I am most proud of, because I like the contrast of black& white, and I also love photography.

I also decided to include pictures of fabric samples that I did on the machine, and other samples I did by hand.

I thought it would be a good idea to show some of the illustrations I have done which were inspired by drapes and include what kind of fabric I used for it.

I finished my portfolio with some of the old work I have done, which is not exactly my favourite, but I think it’s a good idea to show how much I have improved since then.
