Before women demanded change people viewed them a things to take care of the housework and children. Women no longer wanted to be treated like that, they wanted change. Women wanted to go to school, they wanted to work, they wanted to be able to vote and they wanted to get payed the same amount as the other employes. Women began protesting to these unfair issues by holding conventions to get people's attention. Women even began wearing pants around town to protest these unfair conditions.
-McCabe

In 1836 during the Texas Revolution the united states and mexico became "enemies". The U.S president, James Polk believed having the war with Mexico would bring Texas, New mexico and California into the union. Polk supported Texas's claims in dispute with Mexico. In 1845, Polk sent out a spanish speaking emissary to take over New Mexico and California, and to gain approval of the Rio Grande on the Texas boarder. Mexico then sent out troops to the Rio Grande and the army fired at the american troops.
-Ciera

During the women's movement people started to understand that we are all equal. In the constitution they only talk about men with the quote "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal." but during a convention the words " We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men and women are created equal" were stated. Women wanted to get the point across that we are all created equal on this Earth. From the Women's movement we also started to see African Americans as equal.
-McCabe

Elizabeth Cady Stanton had tea one day with her friends and stated that she was not content with the situation that women have in the country, all of her friends agreed and decided to take action. Elizabeth and her friends created the first ever convention that discussed women's rights. She created a declaration of sentiments that stated where women did not have a right and where they needed one. After many conventions it became clear that women needed the right to vote the most because then they could get all of their other rights through that. They started a revolution for women everywhere.
http://bit.ly/1Oe6dyr
-McCabe

The United States made the Louisiana Purchase which cost the country $15 million, but considering it doubled the size of the country it was well worth it. There was this idea of Manifest Destiny which was the belief that settlers were destined to expand westward. In the 1840s, Manifest Destiny was the excuse used by the United States to justify the war with Mexico.
http://bit.ly/2ghwuDZ
-Boogie

President Thomas Jefferson was probably without a doubt the most important person when it came to the Westward Expansion. He initiated the purchase of Louisiana from the French in 1803. The land stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains, and from Canada to New Orleans.Thomas Jefferson believed the country's future relied on this, because it doubled the size of the country
-Boogie

After the Louisiana Purchase people were migrating west because of the Homestead Act which gave 160 acres of land to settlers for free if they improved the land and lived there for five years. This pushed Native Americans out of their homes, off the land, and forced them onto reserves. As the United States continued expanding another result of the Westward Expansion was America's war with Mexico in the 1840s which resulted in the United States gaining one million square miles of land that was previously owned by Mexico.
-Boogie

This thing called the revival would happen. It was a gathering that was an emotional meeting meant to awaken religious faith through passionate preaching and prayer. This would last 4-5 days. The idea of "revivalism" swept the US in the 19th century. During these revivals people would study the bible and examine heir souls. Then in the evening they'd have emotional preaching that would make them cry out, burst into tears and tremble with fear. -Barrett
