Little by little I grew tired of the differences. Because things in America weren't new to me anymore. The differences weren't interesting they were boring. However I began to miss things in Indonesia. For example, food, my friends, the warm climate. I became depress and homesick. I stayed in my room, because I was tired of speaking English all the time. Even though I studied however my grades weren't so good.

So I visited my advisor. He told me about culture shock. I learned that everyperson has this kind of experience and it can't be avoid. I learned that this culture shock is temporary but universal. My advisor told me that I must to keep busy and talk about my culture shock with my friends. This was a good advice, as a result, my culture shock became less and in spite I sometimes still miss my life in Indonesia. I don't feel depression the same as before.

Source: Grammar Dimension. Diane Larsen-Freeman.
