         <description><![CDATA[<p>Militarism-</p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;"><ul><li><p><span>The aggression of armed forces</span></p></li><li><p>Competition to see who had a better army</p></li><li><p>They wanted to see who was bigger and better</p></li><li><p>This sparked arguments and fights for who was better</p></li><li><p>The bigger the arms got the angrier the leaders got</p></li><li><p>The armies became stronger and war broke out</p></li></ul>Allies- <ul><li><p><span>Allied powers- France, Russia, Great Britain</span></p></li><li><p>Italy joined them in 1915 after leaving the central powers</p></li><li><p>France, Russia, GB were known as the Triple Entente</p></li><li><p>Germany and Austria-Hungary were known as the Central Powers</p></li><li><p>Russia promised to support Serbia</p></li></ul>Imperialism-<ul><li><p><span>Caused tension in Europe</span></p></li><li><p>Everybody was competing for territories</p></li><li><p>National pride caused them to take over each other</p></li><li>Wanted to protect themselves in the war</li></ul></span><span style="font-size: 13px;">Nationalism-</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;"><ul><li><p><span>Due to nationalism some countries became unstable </span></p></li><li>(Austria-Hungary) with the the slavs, because the slavs wanted to</li><li> break away from Austria-Hungary. Austria-Hungary took this as a threat.</li></ul> </span></p>]]></description>

The sinking of the Sussex. -again German U-boats shot torpedo's at the Sussex {a french passenger line}</p><p>3. The Zimmermann note. -the Zimmermann note was a telegram sent from Germany to Mexico to form an alliance  and help take back states that the U.S. took from them in the Mexican-American war.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1. The Committee of Public Communication. -this committee organized rallies and parades and published posters and pamphlets.</p><p>2. The Espionage act of 1917 and the Sedition act of 1918 -these acts restricted free speech and allowed the government to arrest opponents of war.</p><p>3. The Selective Service Act -the act required men between the ages of 21 and 30 to be registered to be drafted</p><p>4. The War Industries Board -they oversaw the production and distribution of steel, copper, cement, and rubber</p><p>5. The Food Administration -they worked to increase food supplies for the troops</p><p>6. National War Labor Board -the board helped workers and management avoid strikes and reach agreements</p><p>7. Liberty Bonds -people were giving investments in Liberty Bonds.</p><p>8. Propaganda -p<span style="font-size: 13px;">eople were setting up propaganda for influences.</span></p>]]></description>
