I'm a wife, mom, grandma, and educator, not some movie star. I began my professional journey in the medical field and dedicated 16 fulfilling years to working with patients. Despite my love for the job, I grew weary of the politics and opted for a change. Volunteering at my daughter's school and leading her Girl Scouts troop ignited a spark. With my passion for education and kids, I made a career switch. Honestly, education has my heart. Since childhood, I've adored learning, so I've chosen to be a perpetual student-teacher.

For twelve years, I've been deeply entrenched in education, exclusively within a CPS Title One school. My journey began teaching ELA and science to bilingual middle schoolers, starting with 8th graders and transitioning to sixth grade in my third year. Last academic year, I had the privilege of teaching science across sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Now, I am teaching Science/ELA to 7th grade for this academic year. Despite numerous role shifts, all my experiences have revolved around middle school education. Moreover, I actively contribute to the STEM, SEL, and PPC teams while dedicating time to teaching after-school activities.

In the limited free moments I manage to carve out, I cherish being with family and friends. There's something special about biking alongside my husband to the Botanical Gardens, unwinding in the pool, and taking leisurely strolls with our dogs, Rascoe and Archie. But the newest joy in my life is my grandson, Vincenzo. He has this magical power to brighten even my toughest days. A simple video call with him can turn everything around and make everything feel just right.

This year, time hasn't exactly been in our favor. In past years, in middle school, we used to have these epic homeroom decorating showdowns that added so much life to our halls. But this year, it's been a total miss. My homeroom students pointed out how dull our hallways looked without the contests. So, we had an idea: let's spruce up our door before the winter break. And guess what? We nailed it in just one class period! It reminded us that sometimes, a little break from the usual routine can jazz up our surroundings. We even put together a clip wishing everyone happy holidays and got it added to our morning announcements.
