This video can be shown to 3rd graders to make sure they can recognize and know what equivalent fractions are. Students must understand that a fraction is a number that can represent part of a whole. This video will help students recognize that equivalent fractions equal one another and they can see a visual fraction model as well.

This website has lots of games that can be played by choosing a grade level and a specific skill to work on. Games adapt to the skill being learned in that grade and are interactive for kids to practice what they have been learning. For practicing fractions in 3rd grade, students would pick any game they want and choose their grade and fractions as the skill. Students then use what they know to solve problems of equivalent fractions and find the missing answer. These games make your think fast, so students are encouraged to apply what they know quickly.

This game is targeted towards my Common Core Standard of equivalent fractions. It has students organize different representations of equivalent fractions, including visual and written representations and sort them to distinguish the equal values. This helps students connect that comparisons are only valid when fractions refer to the same whole.

This game helps students decide and evaluate which fraction are equivalent and then eliminate the one that is not equivalent. It is aligned to the Common Core for 3rd grade and students have to justify which answer is not correct based on their knowledge of equivalent fractions. Levels of difficulty are offered to reach diverse needs of students.

This applet allows students to individually practice working with relationships among fractions and ways of combining fractions. Students have to construct two or more fractions so that the sum of them is less than or equal to the fraction given on the card. This interactive activity challenges students to go beyond just identifying fractions and learning to make connections to build fractions. It requires students to use higher order thinking skills and also allow students to come up with multiple answers for diverse learners as longs as the sum of the fractions are less than or equal to the fraction given.
