The Hebrew words CHET (meaning when singing, a person is staying away from making good choices) and YETZER (instinctual force that can send people astray and lead them into sin unless one deliberately chooses otherwise.)

Judaism believes that one may not be forgiven unless they partake in the performance of TESHUVAH (meaning repentance). Teshuva Includes "rigorous self-examination", it also includes confessing, expressing regret, and making a huge effort to right the wrongs that they committed.

Christians believe that there is an “original sin” unlike Judaism where they believe you are born free of sin. The original sin is Adam and eve being tempted by Satan to disobey God (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12).

In Christianity forgiveness is seen to be not a onetime action weather being asked for forgiveness multiple times. In the Gospel of Matthew forgiveness is talked about and says God makes it clear to be forgiven you must forgive others first

All humans’ sin, none of us are perfect. Islam teaches that Allah knows that we make mistakes and knows we sin. There are bad sins that are punished.

The word used to forgive in Islam is "to Pardon". Allah will forgive people on the day of judgement. This is where the followers confess their sins. Muslims (the followers of Islam) believe that no one is perfect and everyone can do the wrong thing and deserves forgiveness.

Judaism believe that Satan is not a separate being, they believe that he exists in every human being. Therefore, because God created everything, created evil through free choice. God is omnipotent, merciful, and just, therefore evil and suffering must be part of God's plan for humanity.

The saying ‘To err is human, to forgive divine?’ is by Alexander Pope.  The saying represents that no one is perfect, we all sin (err) and we all need forgiveness. Giving forgiveness is therefore being more like God and showing the ability to overcome the sin and give forgiveness to those who sinned.
