I'm working on a dual degree in Library Technology & Computer Information Systems to eventually either become a librarian or a lawyer, I'm not sure yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As for hobbies and that kind of stuff, I'm pretty basic. I like playing video games (especially point and click horror), writing/reading, making food of any fashion, and going on long walks down the beach at night. Walnut Creek has no beaches, so I settle for city strolls and podcasts about serial killers in my earbuds. I also run (although I recently took a LOA) the teen/tween video gaming program at the Walnut Creek Library.

So, I will instead explain why I am pursuing  this career/life path.

The library, as a public, free institution that just gave you books, was a haven for a nerdy kid like me from a family without a ton of money. I think I spent as much time with my nose in a book as I did anything else. Side note, I'd kill for that long of an attention span again.

As I grew up, going into high school, I got it into my head that I wanted to volunteer at the library, as a way to pass the time, and to secure my way into UC Berkeley or some other high-level, high-competitive scene school. (I eventually chose DVC for a number of reasons, one being the FT3 reimbursement program). It was only when I moved to Walnut Creek that I got that chance, and so I went to work shelving books, marking them for deletion, attending Teen Advisory Group board meetings, and eventually running the library's video gaming program. Junior & senior years of high school, I worked as a staff assistant in the LLHS library, my duties ranging from checking out books, setting up displays to wow students into reading books, helping students with their reference/VERY basic research questions, and choosing some popular books for the library to buy. By senior year of high school, I was torn between materials engineering and library sciences.
I chose this library path because I love working with information, books, and people. Along the same veins of information literacy, I also enjoy the idea of being a lawyer, a split path I'll have to confront eventually.

Going into my 1st semester at DVC, and ENGL-122, my professor went more in-depth into the ideas of sourcing and proper citing, the latter being something I had my struggles with. There's so many ways to cite, depending on whether you're referencing print material, a database, or even a microblog such as a Tweet or a Tumblr post.
