Description:
This video interviews one of the witnesses of the UFO sighting and crash as well as speaks about shag harbour the as a town. Shag Harbour is a place where everyone knows everyone. So, the fact that a few days after the witness reported what he saw that the military showed up, to him it makes him believe that there was something there.

Connection:
This video really shows the unexplained reason for belief. The fact that there were so many witnesses of the accounts, including authorities but when they went out to go search for proof and any left-over wreckage and nothing was there, no one can explain what they saw and what it was.

Description:
This video is a small documentary on the Shag Harbour incident. It talks about what happened on the day and about the search for a wreck.

Connection:
A reason for belief portrayed in this video is Agenticity. People often believe that if aliens come to earth that they will be far more advanced but as we have no proof of their being life elsewhere in the universe we can't be sure that would be the case. One red flag is Red Herring. In the video they have a map of all the locations it was reported however no one was able to get a picture of it not being able to prove it as Alien life.

Post # 4 Video: 2016 Bus Tour Retraces 1967 Shag Harbour UFO Incident

Description:
This video is a bus tour from 2016 where they retrace the events that happened at Shag Harbour is 1967. Laurie Wickens is a part of the bus tour and tells personal accounts of what happened, how it was handled, and who was involved in the investigations. Members of the coast guard and RCMP were also involved in this bus tour.

Connection:
This video relates to the Emotional Connection reason for belief. Laurie Wickens has a deep emotional connection to Shag Harbour because he was one of the eyewitnesses’ that day in 1967. Similarly, people who are willing to go on a bus tour about the event, they have a level of connection to this incident as well. The red flag that is evident in this video is Appeal to Authority. With an eye witness and representatives from the coast guard and the RCMP, people will tend to put more stock into what they are saying because of their status in the event and community as a whole. One flaw in the video was that it was all filmed inside the bus. It would have been better to go out to the places on foot and get a better sense of the area Laurie was describing. This video relates to the gathering information part of the critical thinking process because it is retracing of events with an eye witness while providing more specific information.

Description:
This article is from global news. They talk about how some of the Cousteau family members, one of the most famous families for ocean exploration will be going out to Shag Harbour, N.S. to try and investigate the Shag Harbour UFO incident that no one has answers for. They also mention how it is Canada’s best documented UFO incident.

Connection:
This article really shows the unexplained reason for belief. It is mentioned that there are multiple reports of unidentified flying objects because people could simply not explain what they were seeing. There is a red flag as well which would be the appeal to authority, this is just because of the crazy amount of coverage it has got, as well they are going to have the Cousteau family investigate it.

Description:
This is an article about the events that took place at Shag Harbour during the day of the supposed UFO sighting.

Connection:
One reason for belief is Unexplained. The article states many facts about the nights and how there were no reports of aircraft going down or any wreckage found except for a mysterious yellow foam. One red flag is Suppression by Authorities. There is a belief that the U.S may have picked up any wreckage found in the water to cover up alien existence. One critical Thinking step we can take is Assumptions. Always assume that anything is possible and create your own if necessary.

Description:
This website is a summary of the Shag Harbour UFO sighting timeline and events that occurred on October 4th, 1967. This article was posted by Narcity, a website that provides interesting stories about cities across Canada.

Connection:
The reason for the belief that connects to this website is Emotional Connection. The small city of Shag Harbour and Nova Scotia as a whole has a connection to this UFO incident. The purpose of the website is to provide Canadians with memorable stories from cities across the country and the Shag Harbour UFO sighting was an important, memorable incident in their history. The red flag that coincides with this article is Proof by Verbosity. Even though the article provides quick summaries of the incident, they also showcase the various ways the Shag Harbour UFO sighting is celebrated in Nova Scotia. For example, they mention the Shag Harbour UFO centre that is in the city, as well as the festival that is held every year. After a while, the numerous stories you hear any evidence that is provided, it becomes so much that people will tend to believe it. Lastly, this article talked about how on the day of the event, the police were called assuming that the object that crashed was a plane. When using the critical thinking process, It is important to identify the assumptions that are used in the evidence, and the eyewitness accounts that were recorded.

This is exactly what people were claiming to see out across the water but the difference in those reports to this picture is that it was like a bright light.

Connection:
Here you can see how easy people will believe in seeing a UFO because of patternicity. A human will relate any kind of weird shape in the sky to it being a UFO or some sort of extraterrestrial spacecraft.

Description:
This image portrays the news article for the day after the UFO incident

Connection:
A reason for belief can be Unexplained. On the day there were reporting of an unidentified object glowing and floating above the sea before crashing into it with no reason behind it and no reports of aircraft going down. A red flag related to it is Red herring as the article suggests it was a UFO shot down by the U.S but no real evidence to prove it was a UFO or the U.S. If we use the Critical Thinking process it's important to keep in mind of assumptions. When an event like this that can't be explained everyone has their own assumptions as to what happened and should always be open-minded to different ones.

Description:
This is a photo of the Shag Harbour UFO Museum. The picture also shows the hours of operation and the price of admission for the museum.

Connection:
This photo relates to the Unexplained reason for belief. Many people will be interested to learn about incidents that are still considered unexplained. This museum can offer many theories and stories as to what happened that night. This museum would be marketed to individuals who love mystery, and the conspiracy of alien life as a whole. The red flag that resonates the most with this photo is Confirmation Bias. People who are visiting a UFO museum, likely believe in alien life. Therefore, when they see all the evidence and eyewitness accounts that are inside, they will connect the information with their belief that alien life does exist. This museum also allows customers to evaluate the arguments surrounding the incident when going through the critical thinking process.

1. The thing that we learned that most surprised us was this one of Canada’s biggest unexplained UFO incidents in which 11 people saw a low-flying lit object crash into the harbour with no evidence of being there.

2. Shows such as Doctor Who and Star Trek and movies like Star Wars have shown us for years what possible aliens and their worlds can look like through shows and film and the fact that this was right in Canada is why this topic was interesting to our group.

3. The research that I found most interesting was that there were 11 people who witnessed the object crash into the harbour as well as multiple witnesses reported hearing a whistling sound like then finally a loud bang. However, after three days of searching by the RCC and RCN, there was no evidence, bodies or object was found.

4. The thing that I am most likely to remember from this research is how there was no evidence of the flying object even being there even after almost three days of searching and all of the witnesses of the object.

5. After completing the course content, the pseudoscience belief that can do the most harmful would be Appeal to Authority because sometimes can blindly follow something dangerous or create a bad image for themselves because they idolize an authority figure.

The least harmful would be All-Natural because most people are trying to find what is best for their bodies through all-natural cures and remedies. Though most of All Natural has very low standards and usually isn’t true and can be harmful to their bodies.

6. The most important knowledge to pass onto a family member or friend would be to start using critical thinking in every aspect of your life and not just for the world’s mysteries. Critical thinking has helped in our other courses in thinking outside the box and to recreate solutions for our problems.
