This Part of the Book is from the chapter The End and at the time there's a character, his name is Nicky, he has No relation to the main character, Eddie. He want to go on all of the rides but he is carrying a singular key in his jacket, normally this wouldn't be an issue, but later he reaches into his pocket to realized his key is missing. I chose this part to show the reader that no matter who you are you can effect someone elses life in a drastic way, later Eddie unfortunately dies because of a cable failure on a ride, the reason it failed is because of Nickys key, This proves that everyone is connected

The Arrival

Eddie upon his arrival into what appears to be Ruby's pier but a long time ago. Almost like it was when he was a kid, it says In the highlighted section he is running, he explains that he hasn't ran since the war. He seemed to like running after finding out he isn't injured anymore, he felt incredible. Eddie is running everywhere now across Ruby's pier. it shows how much the war took from him because not only was he unable to run after his knee injury it also made Eddie more excited like he was a child again on the pier.

The First Person (Blue Man)

after meeting the Blue Man, Also the first person he met in heaven. He says that there will be 5 people he meets all connected to Eddie himself. They are there to help him understand his life on earth. He says that the people he will meet have crossed eddies path before they died and altered his life in some way. This part of the book goes back to the topic that you are connected to people more than you think, and can make a big change in how they go about their lives, in this case the Blue Man was apart of the sideshow on rubys pier.

Blue Man Death

The blue man is telling Eddie about his full story, The Blue Man was born in poland and came to America, very poor, basically homeless. He had anxiety, to help with it he was prescribed silver nitrate,Which turned his skin blue. He was fired and he then found the carnival, where he felt like he was wanted. The Blueman told Eddie how he accidentally caused his death, and the viewpoints to how he died are different, for Eddie he was chasing a ball into the street and avoided a bad accident in the street, the car that swerved him was the blueman, from the bluemans pov he saved a kids life and swerved but he had a heart attack and that's how Eddie accidentally killed the blue man. This also goes back to the topic of how everyone is connected

Eddie and His Father stop talking

At this part of the novel, Eddie explains that he and his father always had a bumpy relationship. All of the damage his father has done to him. He would ignore Eddie and was neglected. Through all of this he still loved his father. But in the end, Eddie and his dad stopped talking all together. After the war Eddie was in the hospital, his father was drunk and not in the right head space and attempted to punch Eddie. Eddie with instinct caught the punch, it was the first time Eddie defended himself and because of this His father never spoke to him again.

Ruby

We are introduced to the Third person we meet in heaven Her Name is ruby. Shes named after the pier Eddie has worked at and been to his entire life. She tells us her backstory about how she was a waitress at one of Eddie's favorite diners. Then she met a man named Emile. He was wealthy and he built the pier. Named it after Ruby. This is an important part of the book because we get to know the third person and she teaches Eddie a valuable lesson later.

The Third Lesson

Eddie is talking to Ruby about his father. Ruby tells Eddie that maybe he was hard on his father too, he doesn't believe that. Even though Eddie and his father had their ups and downs most families do. But holding anger towards him isn't helping the situation, if anything it is making it worse. Ruby says at the end that he has to forgive his father.

Eddies father

Eddies father died of pneumonia. The reason he got pneumonia is because his friend Mickey Shea was drunk and trying to force himself on eddies mom. His Dad saw what was happening and chased Mickey with a hammer down the pier. Mickey jumped into the water and eddies father quickly followed. At this moment Eddies father made a choice to save him instead of killing him. he FORGAVE mickey. Even though Mickey did a bad thing, eddies father thought of all mickey has done for him. He then decided to choose saving Mickey over protecting himself. This is important because the third lesson is forgiveness

Fourth Person

After eddie meets his third person, the fourth person he meets is his wife Marguerite. She is Very beautiful and young. he explains to her that their love is irreplaceable. This part of the novelis very important. Marguerite chooses her heaven to be her and eddies wedding it not only shows how much she loved him it shows that, it was the most perfect thing to her to spend her heaven in. This further expands to show the lesson that she teaches eddie.

fourth Lesson

The fourth lesson that Eddie learns, is from his late wife Marguerite. This lesson was that love is eternal. Marguerite explains that even though she physically died at 47 her love for Eddie lasts forever. This is one of the five people you meet in heaven, you're true love and for Eddie was his wife and only woman he's ever loved.

The fifth person in this novel is a sad one. Her name is Tala she was a little girl from the Philippines that was burnt to death by Eddie when he was there for war. Eddie thought he saw a small figure in the fire but was stopped, he was right. Eddie was heartbroken and felt absolutely terrible for what he has done, he felt like he deserved ever bad thing that has happened to him. Tala comforted him and told him his last lesson

final lesson

Tala told Eddie his last and final lesson. Eddie feels like he accomplished nothing in his life and was sad. She said he was supposed to be at the pier, it was his purpose to make children happy and to be safe doing the maintenance. Not only that he saved the little girl when he died, he sacrificed himself so that a little girl can live her life
