For my MPH I used Principal components analysis (but that was long ago and I need a refresher!) and for my doctoral work I used EFA/CFA to develop a measure of 'sanitation insecurity' among women in rural India. 

I am taking this course as I am working with a colleague to create measures of Women's Empowerment specific to water and sanitation (modeled after the pro-weia for agriculture). I also am interested in other measures for women's experiences of water insecurity and menstrual management in rural India. I have used SAS, MPLUS, HLM, and a bit of STATA and SEM. All continuously need practice.
