There were many different routes that European immigrants took to get into the U.S.. As more and more people migrated to the United States, the U.S. began to get more and more strict with who and how many immigrants could enter their country. U.S. Americans began to get angry with all the immigrants taking their jobs and there opportunities to make money.

Anti-Immigration had a huge affect and did change society for a period of time in the 1920s and many years after that. At first Americans were fairly okay with having people from different countries to travel and want to live in the U.S.. Then once there were too many immigrants coming into the U.S., many Americans were no longer okay with so many immigrants coming in because they were taking there jobs and all there ways of making money. Soon Americans started to refuse so many immigrants coming into the country from the problems they were having. Immigrants had many ways of entering the country, but it was mainly from boats, also there was many routes they could take so they wouldn't be stopped from entering the country. The prohibition act made tensions increase with the immigrants coming in, because many American men were angry there alcohol was taken away and banned, plus immigrants were taking the Americans jobs, leading to many riots breaking out and many lives being lost. This influenced immigrants to try even harder to fight for there freedom in this country because of the anti-immigration laws

In the 1920's America started to put in place immigration laws. Americans were afraid of people coming over and taking our jobs and that is why we started to put these laws in place. The topic is Anti-Immigration laws that started in the 1920's in America. These laws were put in place limiting the amount of people that were aloud in to the country. The immigration Act of 1924 limited the amount of immigrants aloud from each country to two percent living in the united states. In addition, it severely restricted the immigration of Africans and outright banned the immigration of Arabs and Asians. Which was coming down from 3 percent in 1921. These laws came in because american women were starting to make progress and americans were afraid that immigrants and women would take all the jobs.ccording to the U.S. Department of State Office of Historian the purpose of the act was "to preserve the ideal of American homogeneity". But though the Act aimed at preserving American racial homogeneity, it set no limits on immigration from Latin Americans countries.Congressional opposition was minimal.

This website has many political cartoons describing what immigrants were put through as they entered the country. In one of the cartoons Uncle Sam was contemplating whether he was Americanizing the new immigrants or if they were Europeanizing him. Also multiple drawings were describing how the U.S. government wasn't able to stop every immigrant from entering the country because they didn't have enough man power/resources which led to more and more immigrants getting into the country which led to more jobs being taken from the American people. These cartoons are all good examples of the Anti-Immigration laws that the United States enforced
