Hey there! I am Marina R. Nagayama, just turned 17 years old on June 3rd, and a student from 12-Canisius. But before I studied at Ateneo de Davao Senior High School, I attended a school named St. Peter's College of Toril since elementary. My journey in Ateneo is fun, BUT challenging. Some people are curious about my nationality since I have an unusual family name for a Filipino Citizen, which is "Nagayama". Yes, I am half Japanese and half Filipino. My father is a Japanese man, while my mom is a Filipina. But despite my dual nationality, I still have the heart of a Filipina.

Furthermore, as a person who has dualism, I also have my likes and dislikes.

Likes:

Anything green

Frogs

Dogs

Authentic foods

Travel/ explore

Collecting bags

Gaming

Anime

Dislikes:

Filipino time

Spicy foods

Raisins

Too decisive

Last-minute announcements

Neon colors

Cockroach

"It's crazy that this is my best friend and we've never even shared a word."

My dog Mami taught me that love can be in any form, no need for verbal exchanges-mere touches, eyes locking with each other, resting on the floor together, and looking forward to doing our daily routine together are enough for it to be called "love". Sadly, my soul dog passed away last June 1. She was only with me for 1 year, but she made that 1 year so special that my grief was replaced with gratefulness and contentment.

"I loved you for your whole life, I'll miss you for the rest of mine." :)

I have so many hobbies that I love to do! But to begin with, I am proud to say that my first love was dancing. I first started with ballet, later switched to Jazz and contemporary dance, and now my heart belongs to hip-hop. However, whenever I am taking a break from dancing, I often perform with my band whenever there's a program/ event in school, and I am their lead singer. Also, in my free time, I jam with my friends and bandmates. Then, whenever there's a contest/ pageant, I often try to join since the stage is like a second home for me!! And the experience might be super nerve-wrecking, but it's still worth a try. Lastly, I am now exploring the world of cosplaying. I got my inspiration from watching anime!

Life is full of uncertainties, but I wish you already found the what so called—certainty. Being astray on your path is fine, there is no called “easy journey” after all. Have fun, enjoy your life to the fullest—with limitations, of course. Sleep when you need rest, go ‘gala’ with friends if you’re bored, reflect when you make mistake, you can do what you want, just remember to not give up. Remember your quote from grade 9; “Like water, just go with the flow”, it started as a joke but the more I think about it, the more I applied that quote in my life. All I was hoping for the future Rina is that I hope you’ve got a stable job that you LOVE and you already settle in Japan. You don’t need to fit in society’s standard, cause YOU are already the standard. BE you and DO you.
