I fear many Americans don’t get their news from reputable sources anymore- i.e. choosing social media over reputable sources. The Trump admin had created a fear of traditional media and academic literature on from climate change to previous election results.

We could have already seen after the elections to EU parlament that the sustainability now will be left behind. With concerns about the costs of the green transition, growing trade tensions between the US and China, and now the outcome of the US presidential election and Russia’s war on Ukraine, the EU will find it much harder to make further progress on climate action over the next five years. It feels that Europe will be left in this alone.
