One topic that is in the picture book we just read was acceptance. The theme of this story is be thankful with what you have. I know this because in the book it mentioned, "...you know it could always be worse." The man thought this at the end of the story after he had had the chicken, goat, horse, sheep, and cow. He also said "Next time I complain about having to small and loud of a house, I will count my blessings first." This is what he said also after the chicken, goat, horse, sheep, and cow were in his house making a lot of noise. He knows to do this because he knows it could always be worse. At the end of the story the things that made him upset was the thing that sounded "natural". He is now able to sleep well at night because of the old, wise woman.

One topic shown in this picture book is gratefulness. I know this because in the text, the man was not grateful for what he already had. Instead, he complained about his little problems and made them seem bigger. In the end, however, he realized he should be glad he has the things he has. In the text it says," The man realized he should be thankful for what he had." This shows that he learned his lesson. One theme of this story is be thankful with all you already have , since it could be worse. I know this is the theme because in the text it says, "The man heard his wife softly snoring and his children giggling." This shows he is now content with the noises in this home.

I know this because in for what the story the man was not grateful for his home and famiy, he tried to fix it but it became crowded and more noisy. Then the man realized his mistake: He needed to become more appreciative for what he had. This proves that you should be grateful for what you have because as the story points out it could be so much worse!

The topic in the story A Big Quiet House was thankfulness. The theme in the story was that you should count your blessings! The man was not grateful for the many blessings that he had. He made a small, tiny, miniature problem seem like a HUGE one. He should have seen all the things around him that were wonderful. So when he saw how everything was worse (with all the animals) he realized that he should of been thankful that he had a house, wife, children, chicken, goat, cow, horse. At the end of the book it stated this "He heard the soft snoring of his wife and the giggles of his children....But it was music to his ears." That quote proves that in the end the man was happy with the beauty he had overlooked earlier in the book.

There is a message that the author wanted to share with us in the book we read today. I think the message was that you should always be thankful for your blessings and the things that you have because some people may not be as fortunate as you. For example, in the story the man in the book lived in a small house and it was noisy so he wanted a house that was bigger and quiet. So, he went to the wise lady of the town to ask her what he could do. She told him to take the animals from his farm and put them in his house but, when he did it the house was louder and there was less space. He went to the lady and she told him to take all the animals out of his house and he did and it was much nicer. The man realized that he should be thankful for what he has. The topic of this book is to be thankful because he has more than some people even though he has a tiny house. One thing from the text that proves this is "I will stop and count my blessings first. You know...It could always be worse." There was a message the author wanted us to know in the book we read today.
