After her mother felt that she could handle taking care on Norma Jean (Marilyn), she found that her small apartment was not enough for the both of them so she placed Norma Jean in the Atkinson home temporarily until she could afford a bigger place. The Atkinson's were whole new people to Norma Jean, they were more happy and carefree, they taught her how to juggle, dance and thrown knives, compared to her other home where they found those activities "sinful" They taught her ideas of what was sinful and what was fun, what was good and what was bad, and who was nice, and who was evil, they brought out a whole new side of Norma Jean.
