1941 Z3 Computer is Complete

In 1941, Konrad Zuse finally finished the Z3 Computer. He worked on this completely by himself. This computer had a 22- bit word length. Unfortunately, the Z3 got destroyed in a bombing raid, but Zuse later reconstructed the Z3 in the 1960s.

1950 ERA 1101 is introduced

This computer was one of the first that was commercially produced, and the company's first customer was U.S Navy. The ERA 1101 was built by Remington-Rand, but was designed by ERA. The computer had over 1 million bits, and the architectural designs were used up until about the 1960s.

1960 DEC PDP is introduced

This one computer system was selling for $120,000 back in 1960. A little more than 50 PDP 1's were sold. What made this computer so great was that it only required one operator, no air-conditioning, and had many cool features! Hackers at MIT really enjoyed this computers large scope, therefore they wrote the first computerized video game that went by the name of SpaceWar!

1970 Amdahl Corporation introduces the Amdahl 470

Gene Amdahl started his own company back in the late 1960's, all so he can compete with IBM. The 470v/6 was the company's first product and it was a hit. It ran the same software as IBM's System/370, but the 470 was much cheaper and worked faster, and was smaller.

1980 Texas Instruments TI 99/4 is released

The TI 99/4 had many great qualities that were quite new for home computers. For example, it had one of the fastest working CPUs, a great variety of expansion boards, and had a very big speech system that also went along with TI's educational game that went by the name of Speak & Spell. This computer sold very well.

1992 PowerBook series of laptops is introduced.

The PowerBooks were a complete reconstruction of Apple's typical lines of portable computers. There were 3 PowerBooks. The 100, the 140, and the 170. The 170 was the better-end computer. It was the best out of the bunch. All 3 computers had many cool features that buyers had never seen before. This style of computer soon became the norm for the 1990's. Sadly, the PowerBooks got discontinued in 2006.

2000 The First Camera Phone is Introduced

This phone, the J-phone, was made by the Sony company, and it truly had a big impact on the future phones. It was the first portable phone to have a built-in camera. The photos taken on the phone could be shared wirelessly, and there was a 256-color display. Little did everyone know that cameras would soon be a major necessity on cellular devices.

2012 The Apple iPad is Released

Apple really wanted something bigger that would connect the Iphone and Macbook to make one. This shortly created the iPad. This device had access to a camera, iTunes store, and continuous apps and games. Many people used the iPad for movie-making, art, making music, etc.. The iPad became so big that Apple started making different versions in the years to come.
