Pause the conversation respectfully, and validate their emotions at the same time. Advise the person to generalise the context and avoid mentioning specific subjects.

If the person is sharing about their own personal experience, we can respect what they are sharing and let them continue. However, if the person is sharing about personal experience that they encounter, will need to raise the issue up to them as there will be breach as information shared is without the person's consent.

Pointers for our group:

We don't usually care and focus on the things on hand as it doesn't affect our grades/performance.
Although unethical (by being unfair), to not cause more conflicts, we avoid rather than face the problem head-on.

We do not see an issue, as the professor still guides the class as a whole. However, there is a benefit of doubt that the 'favourite student' may need extra support that the professor identified.

Accept it, but can put it in the course feedback
Focus on what can be done personally for our own learning, or find the professor if assistance is needed.
Be friends with the lecturer's favourite to learn the extra information

-Check with others/seniors on the general conduct and the character of the professor. If theyre generally not a nice person, avoid the second step.

-Collate evidence and write an anonymous email to the professor seeking clarity on the situation. Be non-aggressive and open as there may be a deeper reason behind his actions.

-Should there be negative repercussions for seeking clarity, go up the ladder for clarity and solutions.

In the end, it's our grades, somebody has to do it. If some members are not contributing much, we should voice out the issue to the professor personally.

I would address the issue directly with the professor but would not mention if it's fair to the class as a whole. If its a way to resolve queries, getting extra guidance, attention and opportunities is more acceptable as a part of the academic dynamics.

-Acknowledging disparity is key, but it has to be done properly. Publicly outing the person during a class presentation is not the right way.

-You must have addressed the person seeking clarity on their absence beforehand

-There has to be understanding between both parties that their marks will be affected due to this. However, if they are reprehensive in private about it, then raise it up to the professor in private

Maybe not disclose during the group presentation, but email the lecturer afterwards to raise the issue, especially if the result is not fair to me.

I would firstly bring up this issue with my group mates first before the group presentation. Understand where they are coming from and what caused the unresponsiveness. If it doesn't work, informing the professor would be next step in solving this issue. In other words, the issue should be resolve before presentation to avoid further conflict and impacting my grades even further.

will not raise the issue during the presentation as every group project will definitely have someone who is willing to contribute more
if the contribution were drastically obvious, it should have been brought up earlier during the discussion stage

Critical thinking skills will be lost. Maybe time management skill may be lost as well due to being over reliant that work can be completed on time using AI.

If we always use AI, we may lose originality as content of information generated is repetitive/ over use.

While it can be use for learning, how to use it is important as well. It should not be relied on as the only source of information.

AI plagiarism, copy without thinking

Assignment marked as plagiarised, get expelled
Unable to expand ideas from AI relevantly

Why AI?

- extreme speed and efficiency of gathering information.

- a plethora of LLMs and agentic options for each specific task you might have at hand

- you are on the losing end nowadays if you are not using AI at all.

- dont take AI responses as the absolute answer - use critical thinking and develop your own research from the ideas presented by AI

- think of ideas FIRST, refer to existing study materials FIRST before engaging AI. your prompts will be more thorough

- dont let AI be a crutch, but do not let the non-usage of AI crutch you

The key benefits of AI is to aid efficiency in your work / Personalised Learning, for example; You might need to look for a proper format for your test or questions in school, AI provides a informative figures and charts to ease your search without much frustration.

We can educate students to use AI properly and professionally by bringing awareness that AI isnt all correct or true in some facts providing to its users. Provide cautionary advises that students might instead receive negative answers rather than positive answers if information given by AI isnt true. And thus the warning given by search engines after AI has provided the results.

I believe that over reliance on AI might hinder our basic problem solving skills, especially in roles that require creativity. Humanity have always demonstrated amazing creativity to advance, every innovation and invention has to have an original idea. If people are too over reliant on AI, they might get lazy and unoriginal because of how it can save so much time and effort. While it might seem productive at first, it would essentially mean the loss of creativity, leading to a slowdown in progression and innovation as a whole, sacrificing originality and empathetic human aspects for a quick and simple soulless solution/idea.
