Definition: Using authoritative imagery an attempt to add credibility to a source. This can include things like celebrity endorsement or having someone who looks important to tell you that the information being presented is true.

Connection : This video would demonstrate appeal to authority as it shows well know celebrity Millie Bobby Brown supporting the theory that the earth is flat. Her influence as a young celebrity influences her young and impressionable audience. Critical thinking and skepticism can be used here: Where is her bias? Where did she get her information from? Is she someone of authority on the topic?

Definition: Anything claiming that because it was used by people of the past it has to work. This include things like blood letting or even burning witches. In modern day we are source on whether things work or not and don't use methods just because it was what was done in the past.

Connection: Ancient Chinese medicine is an example of this red flag. Most of it is based off of having been used for 200 or more years and not off scientific evidence of healing. From the pseudoscience watch list does not progress, this is apparent as they have been used for many years and no advancements have been made. As well looking at being convinced by religion as many of these items are connected with various religions like Buddhism.

Usually use the word energy as it sound scientific while there is no science backing the claims in order for it to sound valid.

Connection: This book is a good example of mystic energy as it is all about tapping into energy that has no scientific backing. Using critical thinking and applying skepticism, who is the author of the book? is there scientific evidence? As well the pseudo since watch lists deliberately creates mysteries.
