I think that with the use of technology students do become more dependent on spell check and Grammarly. Maybe this problem can be solved with the use of a lock down browser to prohibit the use of spell check capabilities!
https://youtu.be/XuX8WoeAycs

Although I agree students can become too reliant on such programs, it all depends on how they discipline themselves. Grammarly and spell check can be great tools if used to reinforce spelling and grammar rules, rather then as a substitute for that knowledge.

I found this video on general tips for fixing poor spelling:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fACcFtOIP5E

I do agree technology can be abused and create children who are dependent on spell check but I believe if it is used as a way to check their spelling and grammar after the first draft it can be very bennificial for allowing the students indepence to fix their mistakes. It is important to research how to makke sure we use technology in a way that can best bennifit the students.
Here is some advice I found on spellchecks.

I think a lot of the problems that we are facing with spelling have to do with the lax attitude that comes with texting. People are less inclined to spell correctly or worry about that kind of stuff when they are texting people that they are close to. If you use technology in the English classroom, I would use it more as a supplementary tool.
This video could help with spelling:

I agree that technology is abused by a lot of people. It creates students that rely on the spell and grammar check. It can be a helpful tool; however, a tool that is overly used and needed for students to be good writers.
https://youtu.be/A0x4PJzXMd4
