With the treatment of native people being known internationally the Canadian Government decided that they should try to fix and change the Indian Act. This would remove enfranchisement clauses and help people regain their status which would double their numbers. The bill would help address discrimination against women, but it would cause some of its own problems. It would separate how it classifies natives.
