Hi, I'm Naomi! I teach SIFE at the Umana in East Boston. I especially enjoyed learning about the ways different immigrant communities have shaped our current city. The Chinese Immigration Tour was especially interesting as I was paired with a graduate student and therefore had my own personal tour guide.

Hi, I am Chris! I teach US History I & II at Waltham High School. I truly enjoyed the African-American Historical Tour in Beacon Hill. I think it had great narratives that help to teach the Antebellum period prior to the Civil War, especially the role of African-Americans and others in Boston in regards to the abolitionist movement.

My name is Teresa Underwood and I am an educator at the David A. Ellis Elementary school in Roxbury assigned to teach the 4th grade SEI-Spanish-Hybrid class. I must say this is my second year and I am looking forward to next year visiting the sites I did not make and that I enjoyed and learned from each site I visited and appreciated the time put in from those guiding me through this. I have to agree with Chris that The African-American Historical Tour in Beacon Hill. I felt that the guide educated me on the importance of what took place in the times of slavery. It also, demonstrated the significance, connections and beliefs and struggles many people endured especially the roles African-American and the situations, circumstances to live, survive and be free. I returned back to my class and did a verbal recall of my trip to introducing them to Beacon Hill and a brief discussion of the Abolitionist
Movement. I feel this is a trip for third grader students and up. If I am assigned to 4th grade next year, I have already began the discussion of a field trip with my students. I also learned that many people, like myself, born and raised right here in Boston are uneducated of what surrounds us/them and the importance and value that not only Beacon has but many other historical sites have here to visit as well.

Although I definitely enjoyed every historical site I visited this year and found each one incredibly educational, my absolute favorite was the World War II Museum in Natick. It is a truly amazing place and has a remarkably unique way of presenting its spectacular artifacts and documents. Its emphasis is on the human experience rather than merely telling the story of good vs. bad in a biased way. As such, you are emotionally moved by its accurate depiction of the human condition as it navigates through the horror of war.

I really valued this historical partnership experience. If only I had a clone and could have done more of them. As it was, every one of the four I attended was worthwhile and enriched my understanding of aspects of the city that I didn't know well. I'm especially a fan of the Chinatown tour and the City Archaeology Lab. I took many of the bits and pieces I learned on these tours back to my classroom AND I would absolutely invite several of our guides into my classroom to speak with my students next year. Thank you, thank you Kerry, Natasha, and Josue for doing this. It's awesome.
