This soil is made by rocks and every type of stone, it's useless in cultivation because of its lack of water. It is almost like gravel and plants have a hard time trying to get the nutrientes from the ground.
The stony or rocky soil contain minerals, plants need nitrogen, this help the plant to grow with full health.
A pH of 7 is the best for a plant to grow. Plants also are tolerant to acidic and alkaline soils but to certain point. It is just affected in extreme conditions

Humus Bearing, also called dark soil, possesses a big quantity of organic matter in decomposition. This type of soil is fantastic to retain water and are a great option for agriculture, due to the content of organic matter (which allows a good development). In this type of soil one finds annelids that are worms which do holes, and they allow the soil to absorb water and minerals.

Chalk is a soft, white, porous sedimentary carbonate rock, a form of limestone composed of the mineral calcite. Calcite is an ionic salt called calcium carbonate or CaCO3.
 
 Chalky soils are often shallow, stony and free-draining, and added organic matter can decompose rapidly, making them difficult to keep fertile.
Poor growth and yellowing leaves (chlorosis) are a result of the plants not being able to absorb iron and manganese by their roots.

Sandy soils are granular soils that contain small rock and mineral particles.
Sandy soils are the result of the weathering and disintegration of a variety of rocks such as granite, limestone and quartz.
Easy to cultivate but needs to be watered regularly. (drained rapidly)

Type of matter: Inorganic Matter but it some organic matter.

It is a fine-grained natural rock or soil material that combines one or more clay minerals with traces of metal oxides and organic matter.

It is a natural material with plastic properties because of its water content but they become non-plastic, bitter, and hard when dried. 

Most clay-heavy soils contain a combination of four types of minerals: layer silicates, metal oxides and hydroxides, allophanes, and crystalline chain silicates.

When mixed with humus they become very useful for agriculture because it holds well onto moisture and nutrients.

Crops that grow well in clay are:
  • broccoli
  • potatoes
  • squash
  • pumpkins
  • lettuce
