Discuss how Giraffes are unique because of their spots. Have all students create a spot that has unique things about them - When finished we will add them all to a giant Giraffe poster body shape to make a school EL Giraffe as unique as us!

Using our level books - Students will work with WIDA - Listen/Speak - Describing standards

We will have ADJ / Verb/ Body chart lists

(lowers: teacher made, uppers will ID)

Verbs: modify by level

find vowels, id letter combinations /ea/, /ee/ etc.

act out or add to list
discuss body parts (neck, legs, fur, head, horn, spot)
Adj: Tall, long, fast, brown, yellow, bumps

apply Hello/Goodbye and descriptors to the unit 1-2 aspects (introducing yourself, school supplies) have students use a teacher provided list of adj to describe school supplies / images of animals/ places in USA

(Domains: writing/listening/speaking)

higher levels can play "I spy" style game - then write about an item they choose and share out with group. See if group can guess their items.
