The Holocaust began with the capturing of the "unworthy" and they were taken to Ghettos. Ghettos were places that were not great for living but were liveable. If people did not die at the Ghettos, they were taken to concentration camps or extermination camps. This was where around 11 million people died over the extent of the Holocaust.

Of the 11 million that died in the Holocaust, 6 million were Jewish or of Jewish descent. The general reasoning for targeting Jews was because they were blamed for the downfall of Germany in the first world war and were viewed as lesser for not being Christian. Also among the persecuted were black people, homosexuals, disabled people, and gypsies.

Concentration camps also involved lots of death whether it be from overworking, or just killing people. The difference is that the Concentration camps had the prisoners do work for the German Military.

One major time people fought back was in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This was where a bunch of people in the Warsaw Ghetto decided to fight the people policing them there and try to escape. This was met by lots of death and shooting and not many survived or escaped. Most other attempts to fight back also failed but occasionally some people would escape.

After being freed from the camps, many people wanted to go back and gather their belongings or family members who escaped. Unfortunately, this was met with lots of resistance from remaining Nazi groups. Many Jews were killed even after the Holocaust. Additionally, there were not a lot of countries who would let Jewish people immigrate there. This led to lots of displacement and problems for people.
