Some thought the Congress should have that power and others thought they should hold popular elections. They eventually chose to set up a special body called Electoral College. Electoral College is made up of electives from each state who cast a vote to elect the president and vice president. Each state would have as many electors as the number of senators and representatives it sent to Congress. Also they added two senators to the number of electors from each state to boosted the influence of small states over the ones with large slave populations.

Some wanted to give power to one person and others thought that if that happened, they would have another problem like what they faced with Britain. They didn’t want one person to have complete control over the entire country.
