In some ways this book may benefit from being read aloud, since the dialogue is written with a specific cadence. It could easily be used to discuss cooking and different types of food. There is also a mac and cheese recipe at the end of the book!

It is a nice, straightforward, fairytale story. I think that the "red-riding hood story" claim is misleading, I did not find it to be particularly similar but others could disagree.
