1) Return to your poster from last session and re-immerse in your values, beliefs/beliefs of which you want to let go. Write down one of these that seems central. 2) Being informed by this belief, write a goal that you have for your work in this learning community. 3) Convert your goal to an clear, measurable outcome. 4) Use additional post-its to explain how the outcome meets each criterion for a SMART Goal.

My SMART goal is to authentically engage with students/faculty in the STEM/IT Pathways by actively listening to their concerns, sharing relatable experiences, and addressing transfer/career barriers. This involves stepping out of my comfort zone, embracing vulnerability, and measuring success by tracking their academic persistence. I aim to establish genuine connections by the end of the semester without fear of being perceived as patronizing. Based on initial research, there are far more students to help than I have the capacity to but I'm confident I can connect with 20 students in this way, by Spring 2024 graduation to their transfer school or first career and through their first year.

When it comes to my goals around empowerment, inclusivity, and equity, I often intentionally focus my efforts on behind-the-scenes, operational tasks. I do this because the operations/systems space is more familiar, and I'm comfortable working there. However, after further reflection and deeper involvement with IE3, I'm realizing that my choice is partly due to doubts about the authenticity I can contribute.
