         <description><![CDATA[<div>1620- pilgrims land in Massachusetts (supposed to be Virginia)&nbsp;<br>They created the mayflower compact. Want to create a new version of England. Not free but they wanted to do-----<br>Puritans came : John Winthrop 1630 landed in Plymouth. City on hill... pep talk speech ... model of perfect life. Massachusetts bay ...&nbsp;<br>Puritains feared individualism.. do not believe in grand governments. Each town has its own Congregation Church. (Private community)&nbsp;<br>Everyone can worship at the church but to be a full member you must have demonstrate that you are a visible saint. If you had divine grace you could become a member.&nbsp;<br>Indian War: prequot war 1636= Indian raids , it forced them to create a confederation. 1st time (in America)in history multiple colonies come together to form collective identity.&nbsp;<br>MBC, Plymouth, Connecticut and new Haven = New England confederation (1643)&nbsp;<br>King Phillips War (1675) = bloodiest war ever fought on New England soil. Lasted about a year, but more intense. Terrifying warfare.&nbsp;<br>Dominion of New England (1686)&nbsp;<br>Angliphile : obsessed with English products Anglican = English&nbsp;<br>Merchant shops full of English stuff. England makes money from New England merchant economy.&nbsp;<br>Sir Edmund Andros = new set of laws = no local government.&nbsp;<br>•town meetings forbidden&nbsp;<br>•not contradicting England&nbsp;<br>• taxed the people&nbsp;<br>•enforced unpopular navigation laws (so all things went to England)&nbsp;<br>Englands Glorious revolution triggered 1st American revolution. </div>]]></description>
