This research project focused on the archive (and its practices) and the roles they play in accessing histories. I began playing with what archiving meant both in academic/ institutional settings and the everyday space and this allowed me to expand on what an 'archival material' could be.

This project was a hybrid (online/ in-person) artist residency at Wainsgate Dances (Hebden Bridge) and was in collaboration with fellow artist Seea Gordon.

We looked at different ways to document and archive movement using tasks that focused on timing and our other senses. Together, we co-created a few scores that we distributed through a written letter to the community of Hebden Bridge.

Although I do not have an online presence (except accidently as #natifah white on IG), I've started a digi-practice that it helping me rebuild (and restore) my confidence in the digi-space.

It’s called thisishappening and it’s a type of tri-monthly thread/ source/ diary (?) that features content (convos, collabs, readings, listenings +) that have/ are impacting my artistic practice. I will add to it as time goes on but above everything, I hope it’s a (digi) space that also doubles as a springboard for ideas, thoughts & conversations.

As a new member of the Edinburgh Zine Library, I worked as part of their team to help out at the library and their annual Edinburgh Zine Festival.

For this year's festival, I focused on the idea of zines as/and performance as a continuation of my research into body-based/ non-traditional archiving practices and developing my curiosity and knowledge of zine-making.

I contributed to a panel discussion and zine collection on zines as/and performance. Thank you to Artists; Klara Szafrańska and Hamish MacPherson for joining as panellists :)

As I continue to establish my dance practice, I am excited by the prospects that both archiving & dancing can bring to my research as a physical activity. I am also interested in re/imagining the spaces we expect dance, archiving or research to take place in, allowing this to connect to wider conversations around access & what- access needs need to be centred for archives to work better for different communities.
