The group, Chicken Soup for the New Generation’s Burnt-Out Soul, will have a topic on Burnout Prevention and will include a lot of stress-reduction techniques. The age range for this group will be those 18-25 who are working students. “The new generation, 18-25, deals with so much daily. School, work, social life, etc. can take a toll on us and our mental health. Working students have a heavy load to carry and if not handled with care, can lead to burnout. This group will integrate levels of social support with burnout prevention and stress reduction techniques. Come join a group of those who understand – come as you are and leave even better”.

Ensuring that group dynamics stay positive is essential in group counseling to create and maintain a conducive healing environment. Using the three stages of group dynamics will allow the group to flourish and accomplish its goals.

Stage 1: Stage 1 is integral to building trust and rapport with the group. During this stage, group members will build trust with one another and the group facilitator, building the foundation of a safe space to share their stories.

Stage 2: Stage 2 will build upon the cohesiveness built and encourage group members to work together towards their shared goal - combatting and preventing burnout. A specific example of stage 2 in this group could be collaboration and problem-solving with one another, offering solutions to specific problems, and targeting issues together.

Stage 3: Stage 3 will reflect on the growth that has occurred within the group. There will be a focus on the short-term growth and the skills discovered. While growth has occurred during the group time, encouragement will be shared about continuing their efforts to combat and prevent burnout through the skills learned.
