Missing Saint Shaun: the perfect pup of my childhood, and my inspiration to get Marley. Personally, I thought all dogs could be converted to perfect, obedient angels like Shaun. That was just wishful thinking. Anyway, I thought I'd share my method of choosing a dog. To avoid picking one that's too timid, my dad always told me to rattle the cage and see which ones aren't afraid. For more info about choosing the right dog for you, check out the link below!
http://www.pedigree.com/all-things-dog/select-a-dog/

He never did show in the Westminster, or any dog show for that matter. Somehow, he won us over anyway, even as the world's worst dog.

Finally got to see Marley in The Last Home Run! After filming two years ago, we were expecting an advance copy eight months after, but that never happened. Turns out they couldn't find a national distributor and had to go straight to video. I found it at Blockbuster yesterday and decided to tell you guys a bit about the filming to celebrate.

Moving to Pennsylvania and joining the Organic Gardening team inspired me to start raising backyard chickens. One of my very few neighbors warned me to not allow the kids to name the chicks because "Once you name 'em, they're no longer poultry, they're pets." I agreed with him, but I came home that day to be introduced to Feathers, Tweety, Fluffy, and Shirley.
Our Reggae Pup

I just now realized that I never told how Jenny and I came up with Marley's name. At first it was a struggle. Jenny wanted him to be named Chelsea, but I wouldn't have it. Chelsea is a total chick name. Our dog is a boy. Case closed. Not only had she suggested that mortifying name for a male dog, she turned down my idea of Hunter because it was "too masculine." While we were arguing about what to name our new dog, Jenny used her signature move for dealing with arguments by turning on some music to drown me out. Our new favorite artist, Bob Marley, began playing and Marley's name was decided with no further consideration.
